5. obama is for BOTH...
and having traveled extensively around the world, nuclear power can be safe and it is clean. As Obama has stated, safe methods of disposing of the waste must be developed. If that can be done, then there is nothing wrong with nuclear power.

9. And that's the problem with "triangulation", the essential differences
Edited on Sat Jan-05-08 05:17 PM by patrice
between things that ARE in Fact different are obliterated. The result is entropy at a time when the solutions need all of the organized power we can muster.

Fuck nuclear power!

Triangulation is what got us into this war. Tooooo many people doing BOTH, when it was most necessary to do one RIGHT thing.

19. what the hell are you talking about? Triangulation? being for researchand development
of both nuclear power and renewable energy sources isn't triangulation...its looking at all options.

That is absolutely not equated to changing a position based on the audience or poll numbers, that dear is triangulation and that is a HRC hallmark!

You are supporting a real leader who stood up when it counted.....

Barack Obama at an October Peace Rally in 2002:

I am not opposed to all wars. I’m opposed to dumb wars.

So for those of us who seek a more just and secure world for our children, let us send a clear message to the president today. You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s finish the fight with Bin Laden and al-Qaeda, through effective, coordinated intelligence, and a shutting down of the financial networks that support terrorism, and a homeland security program that involves more than color-coded warnings.

You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s fight to make sure that the UN inspectors can do their work, and that we vigorously enforce a non-proliferation treaty, and that former enemies and current allies like Russia safeguard and ultimately eliminate their stores of nuclear material, and that nations like Pakistan and India never use the terrible weapons already in their possession, and that the arms merchants in our own country stop feeding the countless wars that rage across the globe.

You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s fight to make sure our so-called allies in the Middle East, the Saudis and the Egyptians, stop oppressing their own people, and suppressing dissent, and tolerating corruption and inequality, and mismanaging their economies so that their youth grow up without education, without prospects, without hope, the ready recruits of terrorist cells.

You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s fight to wean ourselves off Middle East oil, through an energy policy that doesn’t simply serve the interests of Exxon and Mobil.

Those are the battles that we need to fight. Those are the battles that we willingly join. The battles against ignorance and intolerance. Corruption and greed. Poverty and despair.

The consequences of war are dire, the sacrifices immeasurable. We may have occasion in our lifetime to once again rise up in defense of our freedom, and pay the wages of war. But we ought not – we will not – travel down that hellish path blindly. Nor should we allow those who would march off and pay the ultimate sacrifice, who would prove the full measure of devotion with their blood, to make such an awful sacrifice in vain.

14. He is letting us know that with some motivation, and if we are enough in numbers,
Edited on Sat Jan-05-08 05:41 PM by FrenchieCat
we are the ones that will bring about the changes required.

Obama gives many specifics, but he also knows how to rally the people to our cause....and that's priceless! In fact, we have been waiting for this kind of individual for the last 40 years.

I'm sure if MLK was running today, you believe that he was only good in assembling a large number of people at a pep rally.

History will prove your cinicism wrong, as it did those who sat on the sideline as MLK did the heavy lifting.

Progress comes through majority concensus from "We the People", and Obama understands that better than most.....and knows how to articulate motivation to form a movement that will stampede Washington right in the nick of time.

The future is up to the current younger generation, and they will show us the way...just like they tried in 1968.

16. Like I said he is a good speaker...
but his actions off the stage don't support his words. Give me some specifics about his policies and most importantly how will he implement and pay for those policies.

How can he stand up and speek of health care when his wife makes close to a half a million dollars at a NON PROFIT hospital and that same hospital charges uninsured patients up to four times that of insured patients? Can you tell me why he continues to vote to fund the war? Can you tell me why he has missed several important votes in the senate?

17. Pleassssssssse ...Obama is no Martin Luther King, Jr.
Not even close. The courage it took to stand up, speak out, organize and inspire ... in the face of the entrenched fear and hatred of the time ... was incredible.

I really haven't seen anything very courageous from Barack Obama. To me, he appears to be as much an opportunist, corporatist, and triangulator as some others have been charged as being.

I'm not anti-Obama, and I'll certainly support him if he wins the nomination, but I don't see him as the superstar so many here seem to. He's just a talented politician.

18. Well, you can sit by while history shows that you are correct,
Obama is not MLK.....he is OBama and will make history in his own right, as MLK did 40 years ago.

Too bad history will happen while you sit with your arms folded sulking. At some point, you will realize what I am saying, and then, you will re-invente yourself.

It's kind of like Folks who never listened to Motown and James Brown when the music first was being played.....and now love it and fake like they always loved it.

But that's ok. I'll never tell! ;)

21. You still haven't answered ANY of my questions.
All I have done is ask some simple questions? Can any Obama supporters answer me or should I just blindly follow the hoopla... "GIVE IT UP" for so and so they gave me some money...How about some OPRAH "Give it UP" she gave me some money....I'm starting to think he really means show me the money every time I hear the "Give it up" speech.

22. You know nothing about me ...
and your response is ridiculous. I've always been 3 steps ahead of the curve, and if/when I see something that inspires confidence in me I'll gladly jump on the Obama-train. So far, I'm ambivalent. I must say, though, his most vociferous supporters make it increasingly difficult to look in his direction.

FYI ... even though I was quite young, I was around and actively supported MLK,Jr and the whole civil rights movement. I was at the rallys, at the draft boards, in the streets protesting the Vietnam War. I skipped school, went to Philly, and marched to Fairmount Park for the very first Earth Day. I've never been one to sit on the sidelines as history happened with my "arms folded sulking" So, stuff it FrenchieCat. Your comments makes you seem as vicious and intolerant as those from 'the dark side'.

Oh, BTW ... I loved lots of the Motown artists, not just the ones they pushed at us either. Huge 'Four Tops' Fan.

15. Fantastic!
I've sent him $100 a quarter since January, 2007... this month will be $500 total. Not a lot for some.. but probably more then our family should be spending on politics. ;)

I'm 30 - and this is the first time in my life i've actually felt so inspired by a political candidate that i've donated money. I think that is a big reason Obama is doing as well as he is.

Hillary somewhat makes me naseuas.. and Edwards isn't bad - but he just doesn't make me feel like he's much different then John Kerry, etc. A very good politician - but not someone who is going to inspire millions... and evoke the change that I see Obama bringing!

Glad to hear you donated to a great movement!
