Everybody understands what's at stake here, right?
Edited on Sat Jan-05-08 05:30 PM by Amerigo Vespucci
Gotta tell you...

I'm an Edwards supporter. Since the 2004 Election, I've wanted to see John Edwards in the White House. I won't lie to you.

Obama won Iowa.

That doesn't mean that Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States.

That doesn't mean that Barack Obama is the Democratic Party candidate in the 2008 Presidential Election.

That means Barack Obama won Iowa. Everything else is in flux. I will be an Edwards supporter until Edwards withdraws from the race.

That doesn't mean I intend to slime, smear, discredit, and disrespect Barack Obama if...

...catch this word...

IF...

...he becomes our final candidate for President of the United States. What kind of a fucking CHILD would I have to be in order to DO that?

How are you feeling after seven years of George W. Bush? Maybe you didn't hear me. Let me speak a little louder.

How are you feeling after seven years of George W. Bush?

That's better. Now you heard me.

One of two things is going to happen in November 2008.

We will elect a Democratic President. Might be Obama. Might be Edwards. Might be Clinton.

OR...

...and I KNOW you don't want to hear this, but tough shit...

...maybe it will be President Romney.

...maybe it will be President Huckabee.

...how many more GOP "maybes" would you like to consider? Are we going to behave like a united party once our candidate is chosen or are we going to act like children in a pissing contest?

I'm an Edwards supporter who took Obama's victory in Iowa for what it's worth, because I think that the "common good" outweighs any pissing contest I might engage in regarding "my candidate."

It's not "over" for John Edwards. It's not "over" for Hillary Clinton.

The Iowa Caucuses are "over."

THAT'S the ONLY thing that's "OVER."

I will promise you ONE thing.

The Democratic candidate for President in 2008 WILL NOT BE PERFECT OR UNBLEMISHED.

The candidate will be a man or woman who's tasted success, who's fucked up, who's done good things and maybe a few things they wouldn't do again if given a second chance.

As we approach New Hampshire, I have one question for you:

Would you rather see a Democrat in the White House in 2008 or would you rather prove to DU how far you can piss?

Respectfully,

A.V.

1. It's a frustrating time for Edwards supporters because, whatever he does, however well or poorly in
any area, he just can't seem to get coverage. The MSM wants the story to be about Hillary
and Barack, and that's how it's gonna be.

I could sense the frustration and anger in Elizabeth Edwards last night, as she tried to get her point
across to Tweety McTurd which - it goes without saying - was a losing cause.

This is just so unfair. I thought it was unfair when, at the debates, Kucinich and Gravel were
so rudely ignored. I think it's a shame that Kucinich has been dropped from the debates, against
his will. I think it's a shame that Edwards could set himself on fire and still not get coverage, while
Hillary and Barack's every hangnail is scrutinized and publicized.

By acting as if the contest is between only Hillary and Barack, we are doing the same thing that the MSM is doing.
Let the candidates have a fair chance, and let the people elect the best man or woman for the job.
Period.

2. The final results might not be "fair"...and they may very well be "frustrating"...BUT...
...we will have ONE candidate from the Democratic party running for President in 2008.

So will we back that candidate, even if they're not our first choice, in November?

And another question I put out to everyone:

Is the worst "sin" committed by Obama, Clinton or Edwards WORSE than the "worst sin" committed by Huckabee, Romney, Giuliani, McCain?

Everyone KNOWS Huckabee wants a "National Sales Tax / Fair Tax," right?

Have you Googled that? Any idea of how that might bend you over and rob you blind? Care about your home? Care about your husband, your wife, your kids, the clothes on your back and the food in your stomach?

KISS THEM ALL GOODBYE if "President Huckabee" gets a chance to move forward with his "agenda."

Are we READY to stand as a united party or are we just a group of fucking children?

"Let the candidates have a fair chance, and let the people elect the best man or woman for the job. Period."

Excellent advice that's being taken by a PERCENTAGE of people on DU.
