What is your candidate's stance on prosecuting Bushco?

4. I'm in total agreement. My question is if they AREN'T impeached, have any
of the candidates indicated if s/he would prosecute after getting into office.

Since the real wheels for impeachment haven't gained much traction yet, my concern is that if we're not successful by the time this admin ends, Bushco will get off the hook. I think it's vital they're persecuted - and if a candidate were to support that, then s/he'd go a long way toward getting me in his/her corner.

9. You know, if they did impeach these people, I think everything would change in the U.S.
Don't you agree? Why are they so AFRAID of impeaching these people?

12. I think if we did impeach them, we'd all breathe a sigh of relief and feel clean.
I was of the "it will take our eye off Iraq, Bushco only has one year, what more harm could he do?" but after hearing Naomi Wolf I realized he/they can do a LOT of harm in addition to the harm they've already inflicted. And, the more I thought about it, the more I realized it's a TRAVESTY to let these people remain in office.

If we were observing another "free country:" and this situation and this administration's actions were occurring, I'd wonder why the FUCK the people put up with it! And more to the point, why the FUCK the elected officials permitted it to continue.

I have no idea why they're afraid, except I'm pretty sure it all ties in to money and power.

2. Looks like we need Helen Thomas to pursue your question.

Somebody needs to push 'em on this one.

3. None Of Them Are Going To Investigate Their Predecessor
That's an empirical observation not a normative one...

5. Why do you feel that way? History? Gut feeling? Attitudes toward the candidates? Thanks. nt

8. Everything You Mentioned And History
Presidents want to look forward... They don't want their Justice Department investigating the perfidy of their predecessors...

Again, that's an empirical observation and not a normative one...

11. What got this started is that I was reading something about Rumsfeld and my
blood started boiling. Then I remembered Biden saying that they were gathering evidence so that if/when they did prosecute, they wouldn't lose the case on legalities. I also heard Biden say that they SHOULD be prosecuted. I've just not heard any of the other candidates address it, but all my focus has been on Biden, so I wanted to ask. If any of them had addressed it (to my liking, of course :7) then I would be more inclined to support that candidate as I feel VERY strongly about this.

15. I knew that's why you asked.
Biden was all over this.

He was also the first one to ask for an independent counsel for the destruction of CIA tapes.

Something tells me we are going to be hearing alot from Biden in the near future.

16. Yeah - it was another reason I was sure Biden was the right one for me. But in all
fairness, I hadn't been paying attention to the other candidates, so wanted to see if they'd weighed in on it at all.

They need US asking questions at those debates!

18. You could ALMOST understand Ford -- it was a party thing. But there could
be no justification for one of our people to do it.

19. Right, and what Nixon had done
was so paltry compared to the crimes of Bushco. At least he didn't completely destroy our relations with the rest of the world. I want to see these people behind bars for war crimes and shredding the Constitution.

20. I was just thinking the same thing about Nixon this morning. Not even
close. Iran Contra was pretty horrifying, though, and they got away with that.

14. Edwards and Clinton are accessories
Obama may well also not want to investigate too far because he will ultimately be implicated. I have very little faith that any of the candidates, with the exception of Kucinich, are truly against the Corporate War Machine.
