Poll question: What does a loss in NH mean for Hillary Clinton?
I will be asking the same thing about Obama and Edwards.

1. I just think its a bit premature to print obituaries when TWO small states have voted.
Not participating because its ridiculous. Nothing personal, Katz.. :yourock:

where things stand. ...But Obama does have serious momentum going on

She is one delegate behind Obama and only one ahead of Edwards. Disastrous stats fer sure.

8. I think a loss would be just what the doctor ordered for her. It would give her an adrenaline kick
and that would spur her on to immediate success the rest of the way.

The worst thing that could happen to her would be to slack off later on, so if she gets stung once or twice early, it'll keep her on her toes the rest of the way. yeah

10. Fact
A candidate who has won both Iowa and New Hampshire has never NOT won their party's nomination. That's a pretty damning fact.

Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 10:12 PM by regnaD kciN
She lost both Iowa and N.H., and went on to lose the nomination. (I believe the same is true of Shirley Chisholm in 1972, but I don't know if Iowa's caucuses were held that early back then.)

More to the point, there's never been a woman candidate who has lost Iowa and N.H. and gone on to win the nomination.

Yikes! This glass must appear full to you:

If Clinton loses NH, she will certainly lose SC. Obama would need to be caught with a hooker to pull out a win from that.

9. Depends on how she loses
If she comes in third behind Edwards she'll be in much more trouble. She can come in second to Obama and hope to bounce back in Nevada. If Edwards beats her she'll be seen as rejected goods. She could still come back, but it would be a long shot.

The day Hillary wins South Carolina is the same day Satan opens a ski resort

Now on the other hand, if Edwards doesn't take SC, he's not going to look too good either, but right now, I'd say it's a tossup between him and Obama. Whichever one of those two takes New Hampshire will have the advantage in SC.

14. Once again, it depends on what you mean as a "loss"...
If she failed to win, but finished second by a whisker, it would be a minor setback at worst.

If she lost by a large margin, it would be a major setback.

If she wound up not only losing by a large margin, but getting passed by Edwards for second-place, I'd say she's pretty much through.

18. No matter what, Hill's got the $ to stay in until Feb 5
Post New Hampshire, where she's trailing by up to 13 pts to the frontrunner, a LOT of her sycophants will jump ship, because in their view, they didn't sign up to be losers.

Once the organization comes apart, she my see the writing on the wall, Say by March.

She's had a huge lead there for the entire season. If Obama's Iowa and New Hampshire momentum wins him Nevada that's the nail in the coffin, IMO.

27. Do they keep those paper printouts as an official record?
The printout seems like a reasonable idea on the level of the voting terminal itself. Probably still leaves vulnerabilities with the overall numbers in the central tabulator database, though.

28. I guess the election this year must be the first one SOME people
have ever witnessed. Two minor states don't make an election. We know why Obama won in Iowa, altho his cult members won't admit it. And we also know why he will probably win in NH.

Kerry didn't win either state, Bush didn't win either state, and a heck of a lot of other real candidates didn't win either state but went on to win the nomination. So what is Iowa and NH, ego trips for the small states who wouldn't even be talked about if they didn't whine and moan because they can't vote first.
