Why are there no Democratic bumper stickers?
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 11:45 PM by tomreedtoon
Mind you, my perception may be off. I live in Florida, and Florida doesn't have a branch of the Democratic Party. We have a bunch of guys who provide weak competition to the Florida Republicans, but who don't support any Democratic principles you might recognize.

But we still get a lot of cars from other states, and I still have not seen many bumper stickers that are Democratic-themed...not simply the pro-one-candidate-or-another, but general ones that say things like "Bush Sucks" or something.

Is it possible that the Democratic Party isn't doing bumper stickers any more? Or are the Republicans in this state so efficient that they torch the cars that have any such stickers on them?

ON EDIT: I know there are people "selling" such stickers. But campaigns used to give them out for free. And it is possible to buy a lot of anti-Bush stickers, just as it is possible to buy stickers recommending pedophilia or the Ku Klux Klan. But a political movement is supposed to get its word out...and I'd rather pay for a sticker that benefits the party (as if we had one in Florida) than to pay some individual on a profit-making basis.

2. they are easy to make, here's how....
buy some of that avery label paper, the whole sheet kind not with lots of little labels.

using your word processor, divide the page in 4 sections across the narrow way. type in what you want and insert a picture if you like.

print, cut into 4 strips. voila, bumper stickers. you can attach them with tape if you don't wnt to peel all the backing off.

5. Making them is not the point. The Party should.
Again, there is no Florida Democratic Party, but it shouldn't be necessary to make our own stickers. I'd only be transmitting my message, not that of the Party. And if the Party puts up official stickers and makes us print our own, what does that say about the Party?

I don't mind buying stickers to help a campaign...at $1 per sticker, in reasonable quantities, that would be about 300 percent profit to the campaign. But the Party isn't interested enough in raising money to do this. Even in a place where the Party does not exist, like Florida.

3. I gave away hundreds of Obama bumperstickers from last April to last week

Here in Madison, there are quite a few bumperstickers. It is early yet though. In Iowa, there were A LOT. As the campaigns go into more states full throttle, you'll see more.

PM me if you want a few free Obama stickers and buttons.

6. Well, I haven't seen any in NJ either and I have been looking!!
I have a Hillary sticker but in my entire area I've seen only one for Giuliani and one for Ron Paul, that's it.

I think that it will change now that Hillary opened her NJ offices last Thursday.
