Rasmussen South Carolina - Obama 42% Clinton 30%
Edited on Mon Jan-07-08 03:26 PM by origin1286
FLASH: RASMUSSEN South Carolina: Obama 42% Clinton 30%... Developing...

From Drudge, so do with it what you will.

If true, Clinton could ultimately end up with a 20-30% defeat there if Obama takes NH.

3. SC is after NV
For some reason everyone (including me) is confused about this (not saying you). NV is Hillary's best hope. She's going to need to do great there. SC is a week later IIRC.

7. Nevada...
Unless Hillary blows Obama out of the water, I think Nevada will be pretty irrelevant. The media seems to be giving it the same treatment they did to the Wyoming GOP vote.

11. I saw something last night that said "SC is the next major primary"
So I think you might be correct.

13. The reason I disagree is the timing of Wyoming and Nevada
Wyoming occurred right in between Iowa and NH, the two huge states. After NH, there are 11 days of nothing until Nevada, and then a week after that until SC. There is also a debate I believe in Nevada on Jan 15. So I expect them to shift attention to Nevada in the coming days.

22. Nevada is a caucus
They are very new at it and not well organized, I understand, and to some extent under the sway of the Culinary Workers union, who are expected to endorse on Wednesday. (I don't live there, but heard from a couple of people who do.) Clinton has the state party behind her and if the Culinary Workers endorse her, she could still do well. But. Word I've had from on the ground is Obama is expected to take Nevada. Unexpected news to me.

4. Drudge
I don't get the Drudge hate since for the most part he simply compiles news sources. His only influence is how prominently they are displayed.

But I figured I'd throw that in there because we know someone else will.

10. I understand the hate
There was an article talking about Hillary exiting the campaign today. Complete BS. He led his website with the BS Edwards Inquirer story. Drudge is slime. But the polls have been right.

If Obama's leading in conservative states, how is Clinton going to hope to beat him in liberal states?

17. Because Edwards focused all of his energy on IA
Edwards won SC in 2004, but hasn't set up much of an organization there. He is a distant 3rd in polls of all the relevant states from here on out.

25. Did you support him BEFORE he chose to take matching funds?
Edited on Mon Jan-07-08 03:45 PM by jenmito
When he chose to FOREGO them? How 'bout when he was speaking all hawkish 11 months ago or when he was involved in a hedge fund? He didn't win Iowa after being there for several years. He has limited funds when he could've used his own money. He's a non-story.

Wow. I guess I should say welcome to DU. Rasmussen polls are crap and you should stay away from Drudge or it will lower your IQ several points for each visit.

18. Drudge
Drudge simply compiles news sources. I'm not sure how he can be a right wing stooge. Maybe the prominence with which he displays them is biased, but better than keeping 10 tabs open.

I joined early early this morning (4 AMish). I confess that 1/4 of my posts were fluff in order to let me create topics.

24. No offense intended.
There just seem to be so many Clinton bashers on here that just joined that it makes me wonder. It just gets irritating. I don't care for her but some of the accusations are so outlandish that they are not realistic. I do welcome you to DU!! :hi:

19. When I joined DU, i did the same thing
I was excited about finding a place to talk politics. Also, I quickly realized that people were a lot nicer to you and more open to your views once you get 1000 plus posts. I said something controversial once when I only had like 60 posts or so and people accused me of being a freeper infiltrater.

On the subject of this poll. This poll will be right in line with the rest that will come out, you can bank on it.

26. Oh my!, The fire spreads as the sheeple speak rather than think.
Beyond being bludgeoned by talking heads shaping the emotion around thoughts of change, I wonder how many of those polled can state the differences in Obama's and Hillary's positions. I've seen these emotional stampedes before, most recently from Howard Dean to Kerry in 2004.

There is a certain comfort in viewing the election charades from a distance with little passion, and not having a dog in the hunt. Because, at times the American public can react with such unthinking emotional fervor, with so little provocation. You would think the world might tilt, because of the difference between coke an pepsi.

27. In SC, the mood is changing because African Americans believe Obama can actually win
And they make up 50% of the democratic primary.

28. That is an interesting demographic, ...
for New Hampshire, and plausible for that state. A look at recent national polls suggests the sweeping trend is nationwide, and IMHO, is being greatly influenced by the play in the press, more than the actual differences in positions. That is to say the momentum shift is more acting on an emotional perception, than being provoked by informed intelligent thought.
