Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has teared up at least twice in public this week, and the Associated Press uses that as the jumping off point for a story that says it's becoming less risky for male politicians to show emotion.
For women in politics, though, it still seems to be a problem if they shed any tears in public.
Aubrey Immelman, a political psychologist at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minn., tells AP that women "are in a default position" in the crying game.
"It would have bad consequences for (Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton) if she teared up in public," Immelman said. "That's unfair, but I think that's probably how it still works in our society."<snip>
