I'm so proud of Hillary for crying, or choking up, or whatever the hell it was she did. She rocks!!
The press is jealous of her and worried about it, half this forum is jealous of her and worried about it, and I'm so fucking delighted about it that I'm gonna go out and dance in the street as soon as I'm done doing this post.

This couldn't have worked out more to perfection than it did. Everyone is talking about Hillary. Everyone is noticing she's a beautiful, passionate lady with EMOTION, as well as the tough politician they already know. The real Hillary showed up for work today. The Goddess of Peace has arrived!

Now you say WTF difference will this make in NH? Well I say it won't matter what difference it makes in NH. What's going to matter is that the woman in Hillary has emerged from the shell today, and the complete package is ready to rock and roll after NH. The most important thing is that people are going to take notice from now on and look at her as a woman who's trying to become the first woman president and not as the political caricature that the press has made her out to be.

Win or lose, Hillary Clinton has made her peace. She's had enough of this holding your emotions in just because you're supposed to act like a man bullshit. She's gonna be herself, and if that's not good enough to get her elected, then so be it. I think she'll be able to live with that just fine.

As Tom Jones sings it, She's a LADY :smoke:

4. Oh spare me....everyone talks about
how Edwards spoke from his gut and now she cries? a little late. too bad so sad. It's all theatrics. She's bought and paid for and she probably has been told she has to deliver or she just might end up standing up to eat at a lobbyist dinner.

During all her earlier speeches all she did was talk the talk and it was the same-o same-o. Now, she's got competition from Obama and Edwards and she's running scared which is probably the real reason she is crying now.

9. I totally agree with you...
...all I had to do was see a mention of her crying, and it really pissed me off. Very hard to expect real tears from a Bush clone. And I don't give a rat's ass if this pisses other "DU-ers" off or not. This election has made me realize that "democrats" can be as hateful and stupid as anyone else. Not that I didn't already know that.

7. I laughed so hard at this post I had to recommend it
"The most important thing is that people are going to take notice from now on and look at her as a woman who's trying to become the first woman president and not as the political caricature that the press has made her out to be."

Ummm, I haven't heard anything about HC since 2k4 EXCEPT that she is going to run for pres.

"The Goddess of Peace has arrived!"
Do you really want people to start on this one???

The rest is what I think the problem is with HC and supporters....nice flashy adjectives but not really much substance in there.

I don't hate HC, and in fact think she could do better than BO or JE, but the crying looked sooo fake, and she hasn't done much to inspire a lot of people.

14. A can't help but feel it was planned
She seems so calculating. It seem like it was an extension of her acting like here feelings were hurt during the last debate.

I wonder if she had a focus group to decide whether it looked better with or without tears. She probably had duration of her "choking up" calculated to 3 decimal points.

17. Whether it was sincere, staged, partly real, or not, all that matters is that she pulled it off
Edited on Mon Jan-07-08 07:55 PM by mtnsnake
Plus the more she does it, the more real it'll get, even though I think it's already real. Just in case, though, practice makes perfect.

This kind of stuff can take more than a week to take effect. It won't matter for NH, but once it gets in everyone's subconscious, which it's doing right now, the people will be falling head over heals for her again without even realizing it. The press is making the big mistake of poking fun at her, and that's going to put the people on Hillary's side more than ever.

Dam she's pretty.

22. It doesn't matter, planned or not, if she's the nominee the repugs
will have a field day using it and asking the "Do we really want a woman in the WhiteHouse" over and over and over again.
I don't agree with the sentiment but republicans suck and that is what they will do just as they will find a way to play the race/muslim card if Obama is the nominee.

If they go after her for that, they'll be accused of being sexist, and that shit will backfire on them.

23. Hillary is a class act.

A woman. Running for President. A reason for all of us to be proud. I respect her tremendously--especially her intelligence and courage.

All the newly un-lurking DU mental midgets who slam her constantly need to crawl back under their rocks.

26. "The Goddess of Peace has arrived!"
I really don't know what to make of you, mountainsnake. Are you for real? Surely you don't worship Hillary as your goddess?!

But for today's outburst, Hillary was "pulling a Muskie"

Edmund Muskie shed tears too. Only thing different, Muskie was a male. Of course, he basically had his political career finished as a result and his run for president died instantly. Voters (I believe New hampshire primary voters) didn't like the idea of someone that emotional facing all the pressures of the presidency and having his finger on the nuke button.

Seems to me that Hillary now should be applauded for the same break down as doomed Muskie's campaign? What? Are we to treat women differently than men? Isn't this sexist? To just assume that women are emotional, so attacking Hillary is wrong?

And as for her being a "goddess of peace"....she aint no peacenik....and she aint' no goddess either.

children, will president Clinton breakdown and start weeping about how bad it is for those who lost their lives? I want stability in a president so they can handle major events and make decisions clearly, I don't want someone that cant contain their emotions as president.
