Check out "Barack Obama on Civil Rights", "B.O. on the Economy", "B.O. on Education" and the others I'll be posting...

Now you can't complain, now is the time to back up your criticisms. Read the plans and then talk.

3. Platform isn't even half the story. The real issue is the money behind a candidate. nt

10. Thank you.
This is the strongest argument in favor of Edwards over either Obama or Clinton - where did the campaign money come from?

of very cynical operatives manipulating the netroots re O's platform.

Because everyone knows the whole process is RIGGED to give money and media the power. Platforms can be anything, anything at all; it absolutely doesn't matter, because people know that when candidates get elected what actually happens is modified by the opposition, so the candidate always has an excuse for why the platform was different from what they do.

And what they do is the product of where their money comes from and when the money comes from the opposition, what is done is what the opposition wants.

Obama says we should hope? I hope alright. I
Hope Purple enrivonmental policies will be enough to stop global climate change.

Hope optional national health insurance is financially viable.

Hope purple corporate lobbyists stop union busting and start lobby for trade policies that protect American jobs.

Hope homosexuals who are in love don't want a marriage to bless their commitment to caring for one another.

Hope the machines actually count our votes.

Hope the machine that picks our candidates for us picks someone we'd actually choose for ourselves someday.

Hope cross-over voters support retraction of the Reagan tax cuts.

Hope a purple pResident will allow the damage done to the Constitution to be repaired by Congress.

Hope someday someone we've elected to "represent" us actually gives a shit what we think.

The third/purple thing is all well and good in theory, but in practice there are situations in which things MUST be either This or That. The IWR is a perfect example of what happens when you do the third thing at the WRONG time. And Obama just hasn't done much more than give good speeches to demonstrate to me that he has the depth of human compassion to recognize when it is the right and when it is the wrong time for the third thing. And don't give me any BS about his community service. He was doing community service in support of his own ambitions, not for me and mine.

5. As a former Republican, Katzenkavalier, what drew you to Obama?
You've owned up to changing your affiliation more than a few times here, but why not for a different Democrat?

I know that Obama is all for those that have changed their party affiliation, and as far as I know so are all the other candidates.

Why Obama?

That would demonstrate to everyone here that Obama has no substance but your candidate does.

21. My candidate is not in the race ... I'd pick Al Gore
However, as a second choice I'd go with Edwards ... and, here is why:

Health Care - the 'hows' http://www.johnedwards.com/issues/health-care/

Iraq - more 'hows' http://www.johnedwards.com/issues/iraq/

Government Reform - more 'hows' http://www.johnedwards.com/issues/govt-reform/

And, try as I might, I can't find anything as specific as to HOW to achieve these objectives at barackobama.com

26. I found this...
Plan for a Clean Energy Future
“Well, I don't believe that climate change is just an issue that's convenient to bring up during a campaign. I believe it's one of the greatest moral challenges of our generation. That's why I've fought successfully in the Senate to increase our investment in renewable fuels. That's why I reached across the aisle to come up with a plan to raise our fuel standards… And I didn't just give a speech about it in front of some environmental audience in California. I went to Detroit, I stood in front of a group of automakers, and I told them that when I am president, there will be no more excuses — we will help them retool their factories, but they will have to make cars that use less oil.”

— Barack Obama, Speech in Des Moines, IA, October 14, 2007

I also signed up to join his campaign while I was over there.
