IT'S NOT OVER! SHUT UP, MEDIA WHORES!
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 12:51 AM by PretzelWarrior
don't you idiots ever get tired of destroying America? I'm excited as the next person that Barak Obama is generating so much excitement, passion, unity....and actual retail democracy. People are feeling like they can make a difference...that we can rise above the spin, the division, and all the dumbed down B.S.

Then, after Iowa and on the eve of New Hampshire, so many pundits are consigning all of the others to the dustbin of history. It's crazy. I mean, what if Hillary won tomorrow? Heck. What if she didn't? She could still win the majority of states on Super Tuesday and the thing is still wide open.

It's so insane, and I refuse to be taken in by it this time. They will take a gentle rose of great beauty and touch on it, put it under klieg lights, dissect it...until it is a shriveled mess. They are parasites now--not informers of the public.

When I saw the CNN bit today where they were discussing Obama's grandmother in Kenya I thought.."OH BOY! are we ready for this new round of craziness?"

Why can't we throw off the oppressive 24 hour news network tyranny and tell people to open their eyes, break out of the trance and appreciate a moment in history for what it is?

Let me just say despite my support for John Edwards, every time I hear and see Barak and even his wife, I am transfixed. He is a man for our time. Yes, Hillary is also a good candidate when compared against the GOP flock...I would truly have voted for any of the folks in this year's race. I am not trying to denigrate a candidate. I'm just saying I can understand why so many people are drawn to Obama and a message we desperately need.

I don't think the Beatles would have done well in the mid 50's and I don't think Obama would have done well in the early 90's or mid 80's. I think he is a product of a great need we have today, and is an embodiment of our human need to hope...to wish and work for something better for ourselves--to be a better individual and society.

It is a hard thing to ask, but I am hopeful people can dispense with the petty name calling and fine grain inspection of every facet in the diamond looking for the flaw. Yes, let's hear his plans and actual strategy for this country. Let's hear specifically how he will draw us into a new direction with the help of intelligent and diverse cabinet members from a cross section of thought processes and backgrounds. But let's not destroy something good before it has even had a chance to manifest itself.

I can truly say this is the FIRST time in my lifetime I have not been cynical about the candidate I see in front of me. Even Gore and Kerry had their high negatives and it was even in spite of those that I supported them. Obama is the real deal, and I am amazed how even Republicans at work are showing grudging admiration of him.

How do I tie together my being impressed with Obama and pissed at the media and spinners? I guess it is this. Maybe I'm even MORE amazed and impressed about the excitement Obama can generate. I'm excited to see people going nuts to get involved in politics. But even with that so....it is only January 7. DOn't coronate some guy just because he won a primary. Let the PEOPLE decide in every town and every state. THe media are actually overstepping their bounds when they go from reporting the news to speculating about what the news will be to becoming an echo chamber that CREATES news and reality. THat is what is so disgusting about how they are involved and what I want to see end.

No matter who wins.....let the process unfold. Good going Obama. Way to go Edwards. Hang in there Hillary. Let's all be one party and then join to be one nation as we cast of the disgusting Bush regime that should never ever be repeated in our country's history.

3. Bravo!!!
Well said, PretzelWarrior! It really bothers me that the media is "calling" this election after one...ONE...state. If Obama wins New Hampshire, supposedly he'll have the nomination "locked up."

I live and vote in Maryland. Many, many, dare I say MOST, people live and vote in states other than Iowa and New Hampshire. The media is telling us, in effect, that we have NO SAY in the nomination process.

Personally, I will be proud to vote for any of the three front runners in the General Election. I would also have been proud to vote for Biden or Dodd. I'll cast my primary vote for Edwards, though, and I resent the media telling me that vote will be meaningless.

5. The media is worthless. There's probably an ulterior motive
behind all this.

But most of us already know the American media is worthless. And they'll turn on a dime against Obama. Blood sells, even if they're the ones to bleed dry.

6. think about me. I live in Oregon and don't vote til May
so....that's the way it goes. I will always know who the nominee is when I vote. I already decided I was voting for Edwards unless the improbable happened and the thing was still wide open. In that case, I would vote for Obama.

I personally believe Edwards knows he's cooked now and is doing all he can to hurt HIllary's chances so a guy he respects as change agent can win the nomination.
