5. People seem to invest a great deal of emotional capital in their candidate

I can understand being passionate, but some times people go over the top, it seems. ALL of our candidates are perfectly nice, decent *people*, and I suspect that most of us would like them in real life (and probably not say such hateful things about them). The internet provides enough anonymity to allow posters to go over the top, whereas they would be more restrained in the real world, face-to-face.
