Obama seems to have the Big MO...if he wins NH by wide a margin, Hillary should withdraw and support
him and his effort. This will strengthen the DEMOCRATIC Party's effort to capture the WH....

If Edwards and the others follow....we should win the General....

Unity is our strength

1. So...
...the opinions of those in Iowa and NH should remove any choice that the rest of us have? That appears to make absolutely no sense to me.

so the rest of us should just ask him to kick us and say thank you.

2. Rubbish
I think its only right that the 2 majors go all the way to the convention, we should exactly what they are promising, let them get in the practice for the GE. Neither Obama or Clinton or Edwards for that matter should withdraw. This should not be decided by 2 states, that i find ridiculous.

3. Let us not rush things---There is lot's to be done before
anyone drops out.

Hilary has plainly and unequivocally stated she is in
for the long haul. Edwards has stated twice on TV he
is in for the long haul.

Trying push things only divides us more.

6. Aw, c'mon, let them all stay in 'till Super Tuesday--I live in New Jersey
When I lived in New York, I joined the Democratic Primary in part because our primaries mattered. In 1992 it came down to New York--Bill Clinton vs Jerry Brown and it was great. Well, of course not so great because, as is my tradition, I supported the loser, but it was incredibly cool to have a voice.

Ever since I moved to New Jersey, with it's June primaries, I've seethed inwardly as those early states systematically removed all of the candidates I wanted to vote for. Even if my guy was still on the ballot, my vote was, of course totally meaningless.

New Jersey has now moved it's primary to February and for the first time we get a voice.

Don't go calling on people to drop out--let's take a deep breath--do it for Jersey.

9. i believe that's unrealistic.
Hillary, her husband, and her backers have too much invested in her run. She's not going to bow out just because of someone else's momentum in a couple races. She's in this for the long haul.

You can bet certain promises have been made. They have to be delivered upon. She's in until she can't force the issue anymore. And there is still a lot of caucusing to do.

Hillary couldn't quit if she wanted to. I don't believe she wants to. She is a fighter; it's unfortunate that it's a fight for herself alone. Bill Clinton isn't helping.

Lots can change the first week in February. Or even after the next two states.

Then again, Obama does have the big mo right now.

They will unite but it's still a bit early.

Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 10:16 AM by LeFleur1
Iowa and NH decide who the next presidential candidates are?
My God, in years gone by no one even knew when these guys voted except for some in the media.
It seems to me the media is becoming more and more successful in convincing SOME in the public realm that the only votes that count are in Iowa and NH.

I can't believe statements this stupid are even on this forum. Is it a joke?

33. Sadly, it's not a joke
Some dude even suggested Hillary should pull out before the
Iowa caucuses.

Some Einstein's think a small % of Democrats and independents in Iowa should choose the next nominee.

18. I'm by no means a fan of Hillary, and I actually fervently don't want her
to win, but this is a ridiculous idea. She has every right to run as long and hard as she wants, and our democracy is well served by that.

If anyone would have dared to post the same thing about her shit would hit the fan.

Why not just cancel the rest of the priamries? Fuck us in California and the other states!

Two states with the combined population of two of our largest counties have spoken!!! No need to go any further, right?

23. You know, had Obama lost in IA, he would have probably lost in NH
and I myself would have considered him done. He needed to do what he did. Hillary could afford the IA loss, and still can somewhat afford to lose in NH, but two more consecutive losses... and I think it's over for her.

36. I don't agree
Even with two more "losses" it's not over for Hillary or Edwards.

Super tuesday will be the make or break. Even that might not be the case. There could lopsided victories all over the map. This is the closest to a "national primary" we've ever had in history.

I wish that Dodd and Biden were still around.

Why should the few hundred thousands voters of Iowa and New Hampshire - two states that have almost nothing in common with the rest of the country, and where independents have hijacked that Democratic party - be the ones to decide?

If Obama and McCain are the nominees, and if something happens in some part of the world - does not have to be a terrorist attack, only some instability - just watch Obama stammers that "all sides should use restraint" and watch McCain sailing toward the White House.
