To all of those wailing and gnashing teeth over the HRC "pile-on" and the "blatant sexism"...
..that allegedly abounds currently....

Let me ask you a question.

Do you think it would get any BETTER if she became the Democratic Nominee?

Really?

This is just a taste of what would be the de rigeur treatment of her if she won the nomination, and a vindication of all of those of us that said that this would be the case...

This is NOTHING compared to what will be coming down the pike at her if she gets the nod...The REAL knuckle-draggers haven't weighed in yet...the millions of mindless mouth-breathers that would be yelling at her to iron their shirts, or fetch them a beer...right-wing hate radio is barely just warming up on the sidelines...

If you think it would get any better than it is now you are seriously deluding yourselves...

This is just the tip of the iceberg...

If you think the sympathy backlash, that has a lot of non Clinton supporters here also upset at the media treatment of her small emotional display, is worthy of comment, wait to you see what happens in the General if she becomes the nominee. A lot of Democrats have been slow to anger over this because they are upset with the prospect of Clinton defeating a candidate that they prefer for President for other reasons that have nothing to do with sexism. The way human nature works, that dulls the motivation to defend her.

But if Clinton emerges with the nomination almost all of that changes. She would be running against one of the Republicans who we all know and have deep antipathy toward. The backlash would become a tsunami. And don't think for a second that Republican women are immune to angering over the unfair treatment of a woman in public life. Women are a majority group in America.

The Republican Hillary Haters are incapable of restraining themselves. Restraint? From the people who accused her of murdering a personal friend? Over the top attacks against Hillary, and they will be "over the top", will backfire against the Republican party in a big way. Tehy really don't know how to run against a women who they can not plausibley paint to be too soft and weak to protect America. They will stumble, they will insult, they will infuriate, and they will fall, and it won't be a pretty sight for the campaign of the Republican who will get burned.

9. The problem with that scenario is that she ISN'T the tower of
strength you would have us believe. They CAN plausibly paint her to be too soft and weak because she doesn't know how to fight. Just the primaries have been one mis-step after another. She votes for IWR to be 'strong', and turns around and says she was not voting for the ways that * would mis-use it -- which he subsequently DID do, so she can't claim ignorance of how he would use it, as she described it all in her disclaimer. But she was politically afraid NOT to support it. Where's the strength in that?

Ditto for K/L. No matter her claim that it does not empower Bushco to declare war on Iran, many others, including those with REAL foreign affairs credentials (Biden, for one) said that's exactly what it would do. But she voted for it so she could LOOK hawkish - regardless of the ultimate repercussions internationally.

Now, I understand that these positions would be difficult for a Republican to attack her on

AND THAT'S JUST THE FUCKING POINT.

All her kowtowing to the right on national security will be ignored by the right, and they will rip her on totally unrelated matters - meanwhile, she's lost the left and the independents because of her kowtowing to the right, which means losing the general.

5. Sexism won't be stopped,
but at least the party as a whole, should recognize it and condemn the media for using such tactics.

6. I think the Democrats would accept her.
And of course the police wouldn't let anyone dare hold up a sign saying "Hey Obama shine my shoes". Since that is a definite racism attack they would stop them. But all they do when someone slurs a woman is laugh. That's the damn difference in this whole campaign. If they showed Hillary the respect she deserves these things wouldn't be happening. But SHE'S JUST A WOMAN...AND EVEN THO OBAMA IS BLACK HE'S A MAN.

10. You're right, but still...it's mighty disappointing...
I'm still pissed over McCain's little "bitch" episode (even though he didn't say it, he replied it was a "great question"), but you are right, it would only get tougher and that doesn't make it right.

I think this whole race is going to go negative and more negative regardless if it is HRC or Obama. I can just imagine some of the Obama ads getting commissioned right now.
