Huffpo: Bill Clinton Faults Press for Obama 'Fairy Tale'
President Clinton Sees Post-Iowa 'Tidal Wave,' Faults Press for Obama 'Fairy Tale'

Just hours after his wife got choked up on the campaign trail, President Clinton showed anger and frustration as he complained that the press has given a free pass to the nascent front-runner in the Democratic presidential contest, Senator Obama of Illinois.

"It is wrong that Senator Obama got to go through 15 debates trumpeting his superior judgment and how he had been against the war in every year, enumerating the years, and never got asked one time--not once, 'Well, how could you say that when you said in 2004 you didn't know how you would have voted on the resolution? You said in 2004 there was no difference between you and George Bush on the war. And you took that speech you're now running on off your Web site in 2004. And there's no difference in your voting record and Hillary's ever since.'" Mr. Clinton said at a town-hall style meeting Monday afternoon at Dartmouth College. "Give me a break. This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I've ever seen." Mr. Clinton's answer came in response to a questioner who challenged the judgment of Senator Clinton's pollster and chief strategist, Mark Penn, for being unduly negative in a memo he sent out Saturday claiming Mr. Obama got no bounce out of Iowa. He has since picked up about 10% in several polls.

2. And what is wrong with an Obama "Fairy Tale"....
I have to admit, I'm still partly in the camp of not knowing if Obama can win it all (I'm ready to vote for him, but wonder if other Americans are), but with all of this going on, what is wrong with an "Obama Fairy Tale?"

Maybe Clinton was just trying to talk of Obama's Iraq War claims, but man, here we are in America where right now the number one and two candidates are a black person and a woman. What is wrong with that?

We are living in historic times and the so much loved Big Dawg is showing his own true colors.

And what is very enjoyable for me to watch is how so many Republicans are having sort of hard time to figure out how to deal with Obama (though I doubt those conniving Machiavellians will be stumped for long).

5. McCain with media will tear Obama apart - the whole point of Obama gloved treatment is to
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 12:31 PM by papau
give the Dems the weakest person so the GOP can win - at least that is my worry given the Obama paper thin resume plus contradictions that Clinton, but not the media as yet, have noted.

4. America...
...is thirsting for government that listens to them and inspires them.

For so long, we've been disgusted and ashamed of George Bush.

Regardless of what Bill Clinton believes, our nation needs to heal and
we need an inspirational, intelligent, leader who makes us proud.

With that said, Clinton can position Obama's charisma as a "fairy tale".
The fact remains, our nation needs someone uplifting like Obama. We
need to feel unified and moving forward with a hopeful, positive leader.

This is one aspect of Barack Obama. It's a remarkable aspect.

However, Obama does have substance and his policies and ideas are
stellar. He's a Constitutional scholar who taught Constitutional
Law for a decade. He wants to repair the Bush damage and restore
Habeas Corpus. He won't enjoy the "Unitary Executive" kingdom
that Bush has built for himself. He'll tear it down and govern
as our Founding Fathers intended.

Obama was against the war from the onset. He said it "wouldn't work."
His words were prescient, when it was so unpopular to speak out against
the war. Hillary, I might add, was on the Senate floor, issuing the Bush
talking points, during the Iraq-war run up. Her recent vote on Kyl/Lieberman
was an abomination.

I like Obama's health-care plan as well. He cuts the cost of health-care premiums
for low-income earners. Hillary's plans do not cut costs. Her plan mandates
that low-income earners buy insurance. How flawed. You can "mandate" that
everyone in America own Cadillacs, that doesn't mean everyone will have the
means to purchase one. Obama's plan helps make insurance more affordable.

Obama needs to start countering the anti-stuff that's going to be coming.
It's malarkey, but it could be kryptonite if Obama doesn't have a plan
to control the messaging about himself.

If Obama makes the same mistake as Kerry--and allows the Clinton attack-machine
to define him---it will be to Obama's detriment. You can't hope that people
will see the truth. You have to aggressively show them.

10. If you believe the mediawhores have been pro clinton then you
are wearing rose colored glasses. The mediawhores are still pissed that WJC remained in office after the impeachment. They are still pissed there were no charges against HRC in whitewater.

History will show that the Clintons were exonerated of all the Whitewater accusations and that the president was acquitted of all charges in the impeachment trial. For refusing to testify before the grand jury to implicate the Clintons in crimes as Starr had demanded, McDougal was held in prison for 18 months, sometimes in solitary confinement. And when she finally did testify, she said she knew of no wrongdoing by them; she was acquitted of all charges in the case.

If ever we needed proof that not only has the media been complicit with Republican party efforts toward turning America into a one-party corporatist state, this is it. And, it's been doing it for a long time, perhaps from the moment George HW Bu$h failed to convince the American voters that the screwing we were getting from his (mis)Administration was as good as it could get. It would take his son to surpass the hubris of that prevarication. But what we also need is more people willing to stand up to these fascist bastards. Bill Clinton did, and John Kerry should have.
