5. They are all adorable!

I went to an Edwards rally in NH, and his son was hilarious. He was moving all over and
fidgety and trying to move around on the stage as Edwards began his speech. Edwards didn't
flinch. He was amused and very patient. In front of everyone he had to be the parent because
his son was all over the place. Edwards said, "Jack. You don't have to stay the whole
time. You'll get to leave soon, Ok?" and then Edwards resumed talking.

A minute later, after the kids were introduced, someone came and ushered the kids off stage.
It was late, way past their bed time! Edwards then said, "They're tired...and they say they
don't want to listen to any more of daddy's speeches."

It was so cute. Anyone with children that age understands the fidgety behavior and when
they get tired, how they kind of spiral into their own little tirades. Edwards handled it well.

It was so adorable to see Edwards "parent". Just precious.

The Obama children are so sweet and adorable, as well. That entire family is so handsome. Michelle
reminds me of Jackie Kennedy. She's so regal and she has such grace. My husband thought she was
a hottie.

Chelsea has grown into a gorgeous, very refined woman. She's a very good ambassador for her parents.

11. I have noticed what a wonderful, patient father Edwards is.

It is just remarkable. You can judge a man by what kind of father he is. That is a sure sign of who he really is deep inside as opposed to how he wants people to think he is. All those of you who think Edwards is not real, please watch him with his kids.

I remember a video in which it was obvious (to me as a mom) that Emma Claire absolutely did not want to be standing on stage. I can sympathize with that because I was a preacher's kid. There were lots of times when I did not want to be the center of attention. I just wanted to play but I had to go to some church function, listen to boring talk and behave myself. Elizabeth, Cate and John were so patient. John just smiled. Emma Claire got lots of hugs -- nothing more than she wanted, that was quite clear. The children left very quickly. There was no scolding. There was no argument. There was just a visible acknowledgment of how Emma Claire felt and a considerate response to her needs at the right time.

That is the kind of dad we need for our nation.

Aside (because the question will inevitably arise): Do I think it is fair for the children to have to be so much a part of their father's professional life? Yes. Especially here where the father is very aware of the children's needs and is very patient with them. I learned so much from being a part of my father's life. It is much sadder when kids watch their moms and dads go off to work, experience a lot of separation from their parents and never get to know just what it is their parent is doing or why they are gone so much.

and just found out he and his wife have no children and that he was considered for a draft in major league baseball. Interesting guy.
