I've been wondering if the Clinton campaign has been deliberately lowering expectations
so that if she comes within 5 to 7 points, they can claim that it's a strong second and she did much "better than expected."

The Clintons have always been good at the expectations game and all these breathless reports we've been hearing from the media about their fears of a "double digit" loss may well have been fed by the Clinton campaign itself.

Not saying it's bad to do this, it's certainly one way of trying to come off the ropes.

Then again, maybe Obama really WILL win by 12 points or more. In which case we'll know that the Clintons were really running scared.

9. Most smart campaigns do this
if their internal polling was showing a tight race, what better thing to do than feed the media frenzy that this is going to be a blowout, so that if it turns out tight, they can claim a moral victory of sorts.

2. Der Mittster has been doing a similar thing:
If he doesn't come across as a vacuous boob when speaking in public, everyone will be impressed. (That's a page out of Shrub's campaign game plan.) It hasn't been working -- he ALWAYS comes across as a vacuous boob.

7. Oh, of that there can be no doubt. And it's going to break my heart..
this gracious and dignified man does not deserve to be ground up in the Clinton Machine. I already have a computer full of hate mail from a RW nutjob group because I've outted them on an Obama hate mail I received. Kinda spooky, very sickening, and gives me some idea of what we're getting ready to go through.

4. Oh course they were. Who do you think floated the "campaign is over"
nonsense yesterday? Followed by the emotional breakdown on cue, which was simply an insurance policy for spending the rest of the day on the attack.

Please. Its all a charade with them.

8. No, this hasn't been about
lowered expectations, she's going to shake up her campaign staff so it's not a game.
