at this rate I hope that Edwards will drop out, endorse Obama, and hopefully end up on the ticket as VP

I don't know if he'd go that route twice, nor am I sure anyone would want him in that position considering what happened in 2004.

He has such a good message -- and it resonates with people who pay attention, but I am afraid that without the big $ blitzes, word of mouth and town meetings can only go so far.

I would have hoped that he fared better than 20%, but he may not even get that.

8. retool economic message
whoever wins, it'll be tighter than ron paul's checkbook. So Edwards needs to rework his message to peel off voters from Obama and Clinton and make it a true 3 person race. It's not an inevitable Clinton nomination or an Obama landslide, it's a dogfight. And they might be matched up money wise for awhile, although Clinton will have a big money day in the next few days.

10. Edwards stated on George Stephanopolis' show that he is in it for the long haul,
through the convention if I recall correctly. While it's not fun at all to see your candidate come in third, it's helpful to remember that a week is an eternity in politics. I'm not giving up hope for progress until after I vote in the Feb. 5 primaries. If he doesn't make the nomination, he might be offered the VP slot or Attorney General job.

For me, this is about electing a president I am proud of and who inspires me. This person is John Edwards. I will always be an Edwards girl. I will always have his back. No one will ever convince me that he wasn't the best person to lead our country.

However...

If it can't be Edwards, let it be Obama. He is the only other one who comes close to fulfilling that need I have to be inspired.

I'm rooting for Obama in New Hampshire.

This is the second state, J.E. came in 2nd in Iowa even with the Obama excitement wave that seems to have kinda' beached at N.H., and J.E. is still holding at 17% as the counting continues, why would I jump ship on my candidate? I'll add that he has been doing this with piss-poor media support and a fraction of the budget of the glitz and glamour campaign of Obama.

I believe that John Edwards has a solid lock on the Presidency if he gets the Dem nomination.

I am skeptical about either Sen. Clinton's or Sen. Obama's chances of winning the GE, despite going up against a very weak republican candidate.

I fear that Democrats are, once again, going to snatch defeat from the jaws of certain victory.

So, do I want Obama to pull out? Do I mind if Hillary wins?

Frankly, I really don't give a damn. I'll certainly vote for either Clinton or Obama if they are nominated, and then hope and pray we don't get our asses handed to us because republican Senator Elmer Fudd got elected by an energized, reactionary republican/independent electorate.

Not only would it totally suck to have a republican President, but the sheer embarrassment of losing to whatever loony toon candidate the thugs nominate would be too much for me to bear.

It's an Obama and Clinton horse race now. I think Edwards should bow out. I'm not so much a zealot for my candidate to think he should keep going when it's apparent he's not got a chance. I would hope that he could get a cabinet choice (like Atty General), but I doubt that will happen if Clinton wins because he's alienated her with his attacks (which have gone beyond pointing out policy differences).

At this point, I just don't see him having a chance. It's about momentum. As a (former now) John Edwards supporter, I just think there's a time to face the music. But, I'm sure John doesn't want to let his supporters down, or not look like the fighter he is so he'll stay on until the Feb. 5 results, I think.

46. I want the media to stop calling the game in the third inning
(thanks, Dan Abrams). Anything that prevents this and prevents two small states (particularly where independents are allowed to crossover) from dictating the candidate for the rest of the country is a good thing.

I want the media to stop ignoring candidates who have proven viability (see Glenn Grunwald's most recent column) and to scrutinize all candidates fairly. I want them to stop with the horse race BS and focus on informing the voters about the records and qualifications of all the candidates.

Do I believe any of these will happen? Nope.

That's the main way I can show support and fight what I perceive as the huge threat Hillary poses to our chances in November, so why shouldn't I? I don't think it's so funny -- it's just the small action I can take as an individual, sitting out here with absolutely no say in the matter while I watch Hillary polarize the country even more.

63. I stand behind Edwards until the convention.
Edwards has been picking up delegates and will inevitably influence party platform going into the convention if he is not the Democrat nominee. I believe that he will stay in the race because he believes that we must break the hold that insurance companies/Big Pharma etc. has on this country. I believe that Edwards has got the best healthcare plan out of the three, so I hope he is there to influence the party in his direction.
