Obama: "Yes We Can".

Just saw the first concession speech that sounded like it was written as a victory speech. I don't think the speaker had any idea he'd lose.

Yesterday he was quoting MLK.

Today's he's trying to speak like MLK while quoting Cesar Chavez ("Si Se Puede" - "Yes We Can").

Barack, you need to learn some humililty. You've got to begin earning your votes with more than empty rhetoric in revivalist-style speeches).

Then I will be happy to support you if you're our nominee.

Hillary's victory speech is almost as boring as McCain's! Come on, Hil. Say something worthwhile. This is a total bore.

6. He should have stopped the speech 4 minutes before he did.

Man, the guy hit all the good notes at the beginning and in the middle! Then he had what I take to be a faux pas saying to the people who worked for him "This is your night." (Whoops!) Then it was "change, hope, yes-we-can"... Ouch. Took a great speech from the heights right down to mediocre-ville.

I think he went into automatic mode that last few minutes and tried to ride the rhetoric. But he was so damned strong without the preacher and "slogan" stuff, that I was very impressed. He should just keep that style on all the time and stop listening to people who tell him he has a pretty voice and a way with words. He can win this thing without sweeping people off of their feet. He can persuade them.

I still lean Clinton. Very impressed with Obama's speech until he blew it at the end--but I would be very happy to have him as a president too.

7. This race is like Apple versus Microsoft

We make tools for these kinds of people.

While some see them as the crazy ones,
we see genius.

10. I am so happy I recently ditched Microsoft for Apple's iMac.

8. I think it was fine.

First of all, he congratulated the winner which was gracious and what I would expect him to do. And then he did what every other candidate did and does and that was give a speech with free air time.

And, please, don't arbitrarily assign character traits and faults to his speech pattern. That is presumptuous to say the least and just becomes a strawman to burn down.

He made a fine second place finish and graciously conceded. He did his job.

9. I think Rachel Maddow read this post.

Soon after I put it up, she joined Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann on MSNBC and one of the first things out of her mouth was that Obama's concession speech sounded like a victory speech. The next thing out of her mouth is that now Obama's talking about "Si Se Puede".
