Those hoping for Clinton/Obama or Clinton/Edwards or Edwards as AG,etc; you are all fooling yourselves. Just like Bush II, Clinton II is going to pick "people of the past". You're going to see people like Albright and William Cohen, etc. Don't say I didn't warn you.

2. It's true--it will be like Chimpy: payback for all the old cronies and sycophants.

3. Whoever wins will surround themselves with people..
they know and trust, or who come highly recommended by people they know and trust.

9. Apparently that's a bad thing?
I mean presidents should pick people they've never dealt with successfully before for vital leadership positions right?

5. Why would a first term Senator want to jump to the cabinet?
He'd be better off angling for her seat on the SASC.

As for Edwards, who knows? It would require a HUGE pay CUT to join the administration.

More to the point, you're sounding like you think it's Clinton's DUTY to pick them, assuming she wins. It's NOT. Her duty is to pick advisers SHE feels comfortable with. I will bet Wes Clark, who has been campaigning for her, will be one of them. And Albright is supporting her campaign, so why wouldn't she offer her something? Who knows if she'd take it, but that IS the way it works--loyalty is rewarded.

6. I believe she has already unofficially picked Wes Clark for VP
That was why he didn't run this time and came out and endorsed her. So I think that has been her strategy for a long time. As far as the top three, I think they are all strong personalities and wouldn't settle for the VP position. Edwards has already been VP candidate so I don't think he would want that and Obama is too charismatic to be picked as anyone's #2.

There are still other candidates who dropped out who could be considered as VPs such as Biden, Dodd and Richardson. I think Obama/Richardson or Edwards/Richardson would be a great ticket.

7. You'd have to consider whether these people even want it.

8. Well Albright's ineligible but why would that be a "warning"?

She is a devastatingly intellingent and capable person - I'd love to see her in a position of power again. I'm less of a fan of Cohen, while not having any great distaste for him. I suspect she will either do Clark to shore up the tough guy/military credibility or a policy-wonk type like Bayh or Richardson.
