Hillary to Katie Courie: Obama and Edwards used the "buddy system" to attack her during debate

(CBS) In an interview conducted this afternoon at her home in Chappaqua, N.Y., following last night’s victory in the New Hampshire primary, Sen. Hillary Clinton told CBS News anchor Katie Couric that in last Saturday’s debate, Sens. Barack Obama and John Edwards were “in the buddy system,” but, ultimately, a candidate has to stand on his or her own against the Republican nominee.

The following is an excerpt from the interview.

KATIE COURIC: You said, following your win in New Hampshire, that there were a lot of questions coming in to you and not a lot of going in the other direction. What did you mean by that?

SEN. HILLARY CLINTON: That’s right. Well, at the debate on Saturday night, I thought it was finally…equal time in a way where everybody was being asked some tough questions and we got some interesting and, I think, relevant information because, in a campaign, you’re not running against yourself, you’re running against other people, other flesh and blood human beings who have…their strengths, their weaknesses, their qualifications, their ideas. We all need to be out there. This is the toughest job in the world. You know this … I was laughing because, you know, in that debate, obviously Senator Edwards and Senator Obama were … kind of in the "buddy system"… on the stage, and I was thinking, "Well, whoever’s up there against the Republican nominee in the election, uh, debates, come the fall, is not going to have a buddy to fall back on." You know, you’re out there all by yourself.

1. Clinton tradition to talk out of their asses again
Edwards defended Obama, but I didnt see Obama go out of his way to take Edwards' side. Seemed to me like Edwards went with Obama for pure strategy to try to take Clinton out and make it an Obama-Edwards race.

15. Yes, Edwards was actually glomming onto Obama...

...and, though I've been supporting Edwards in recent weeks, I'm really disappointed in his behavior since Iowa. He didn't show enough class to properly congratulate the winners, but launched right into his "two-man" spin after Iowa, and into his usual speech again last night. He's shown a side of himself that's pretty ugly imo ~ glad the other two have picked up the anti-corp rhetoric. Hope they mean it.

40. Obama never attacked her in that debate!
Waht are they on about? Hillary must be either crazy or just profoundly hypocritical. Obama didn't even utter a word against her in that debate.

27. She accused Barack Obama of having been a drug dealer
As a black person who had to sit back and watch our first viable black candidate, a decent family man, a brilliant politician and civil rights lawyer, denigrated that way by the Clintons, I don't owe her any kind of respect. And you are wrong to even demand I overlook that and give her respect she does not deserve from me as a black American.

Do not post messages that are bigoted against (or grossly insensitive toward) any person or group of people based on their race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, lack of religion, disability, physical characteristics, or region of residence.

This is how she wins elections. Plays the damsel in distress. Always a victim. A victim in her marriage, a victim of Lazio, a victim of Edwards and even Obama, who didn't even attack her. She's lies and yells rape over and over again, and people continue to buy it. She's disgusting.

33. Oh, "rape" is taking it too far?
Fine, she yells "domestic violence" and then people come running to save her. Either way, she lies and plays the victim. There are women in this world who truly are victimized. And guess what, no one comes to their rescue and they have to do for themselves. So to me, Hillary is disgusting in that regard.

20. People were saying the same thing here on Monday
I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest such after reading the posts here suggesting that they appeared to have "made a deal". Even I noticed Edwards kept pointing to Obama when describing the need for "change" - it was actually quite startling to me that he did that.

30. She's absolutely right.... First of all, I think the whole Obama/Edwards tag-teaming is stupid of
them....It says a lot about them. If they can't deal with her one-on-one without the other's help....that speaks volumes about them.

Second, her point as DEAD ON!

Whoever is the Democratic nominee this fall, is NOT going to have a buddy on stage with them, when they debate the Republican nominee. They need to be able to stand on their own two feet.

41. after last night the obamites and
Edwards crew are in a serious state of denial. Earlier today I saw Tucker Carlson openly admit the press, esp the MSNBC/NBC bunch were on the Obama bandwagon and all just hated Hillary. Right now I am watching Tweety fawn over Obama and continue to smear Clinton. Now tweety has his guests blaming obama's loss on racism by those hateful and bigoted NH women.

I saw the Saturday debate and Edwards did everything but lick Obamas asshole in his pathetic attempt to maybe get to be Obama's VP. Edwards showed me a lot on Saturday, none of it good.

35. Such uninformed people not the clintons, but obama supports:
Hell that was the topic of debate Friday and Saturday on which way Edwards would go Saturday evening during the debate. Well, Edwards chose to side with Obama and I wrote Saturday night HRC saw the double team even before Edwards gave an answer and HRC gave her fire and passion response which caught the eye of many voters in NH. I even said HRC scored points over them both and even said what HRC showed Saturday night was "court savy" and from a lot of NH voters this is what they too saw and they said they were impressed and many decided to go with HRC.....

ANything else you wanna try and bs us HRC supporters with.....Not only did HRC bear Obama but she beat the mediawhores as well...and I just sat back last night and enjoyed it and I feel sorry for Obama because his "messianic vision" he saw Monday did not come true...
Maybe G-d does not listen to self righteous people
