Is anyone else feeling POSITIVE about things for OBAMA moving into NV
I feel things turning back around. Obama's going to do better than expected in NV and likely win SC.

Super Tuesday is anybody's bet, but Obama will pull off some upsets.

32. These state elections..
...become so highly personalized---when the candidates are there for a while campaigning.

The campaigns take over local news and conversations. People start attending events and
getting excited about their role in this election. Then the media satellite trucks show
up!

It's all very exciting and the citizens of those states take these caucuses and elections
very seriously.

So, when Clinton and her people file a lawsuit, which would prevent people in Nevada
from participating---it's just not going to sit well. Both candidates have weaknesses.
One of Hillary's is that she's a cold, calculating politician who will step on anyone
to win. This lawsuit plays into that construct.

It's going to get so much media play in Nevada too. It will not bode well for Clinton.
Also, it's probably going to ignite those unions even further! They'll take this as a
personal slam.

7. Doesn't really matter
California has a open primary, so that makes that interesting. Then you've got a whole bunch of western and plains states that aren't going to go for Hillary. That's why you're seeing endorsements from Nelson, McCaskill, etc. Then you've got the northeast, which is probably going to go Hillary and there's nothing to be done about it. And then there's the south which I expect to play out exactly like SC, barring any major changes. So I think we're in pretty good shape and the independent thing really doesn't matter.

to be hispanics. They are a large population and it is a large workforce, there must be significant overlap.

When Hillary did the door knocking this week, there were several hispanic culinary workers who said they'd break ranks and vote for her. I wonder how they feel about that now?

49. As a life long Californian
I think once Obama gets out here and campaigns the polls will tighten up dramatically. Remember this is the state that voted for Arnold so they do like their rock star candidates. Obama is loaded with charisma and is a great and inspirational speaker about change that I will be surprised if Hillary wins it here. But Obama MUST campaign not only in the Bay Area, Los Angeles. He must come out to the vast Central Valley loaded with Dem, Indy and sane Repub votes.

One OP today went one step short of saying he'd rather have Hillary cheat than lose. He didn't have any problem with extremely underhanded tactics as long as it produced a win.

It is one thing to use dialog as a political tool in elections but using lawsuits etc to disenfranchise voters is way over the line.

20. I don't, but I'm a pessimistic person
Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 02:35 AM by ShadowLiberal
I'll admit, I'm usually a very pessimistic person, and will usually assume the worst. But right now what what I've been seeing I just don't feel too confident in an Obama win in Nevada for several reasons.

1) There's been no new Nevada poll for over a month, and the last ones had Hillary up by like 20 points (before Iowa even voted yeah, but with her NH win to kill some of Obama's momentum, and Hillary's gigantic lead in the last polls, I won't feel the least bit confident until new polls showing Obama ahead in NV come out).

2) I don't live anywhere near Nevada, but I'm seeing almost nothing about the fighting among Obama and Hillary supporters about her King comments and other stuff causing a controversy and huge fight among them, meaning Hillary can't be damaged by it if no one who's not big into politics knows about it.

I will admit though, the endorsements Obama has been racking up lately do make me feel a bit hopeful that he's getting some momentum. Also http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/063503.php">this story makes me a bit more hopeful for Obama's chances.

When Obama wins Saturday and then takes South Carolina, the rhetoric coming out of Clinton's camp will be almost entirely ignored.

She's scared and desperate. She knows things aren't going well for her and she needs to do anything she can to make this a race again. But even I think Clinton won't keep this up if appears Obama is going to storm Super Tuesday.

I am not feeling positive about Obama or Clinton. They have both allowed the media to pull them into this manufactured tiff that is going to hurt us badly in the long run.

We aren't going to be beaten in Nov by the GOP, but we damn well may get beat by our own stubborn ignorance.

Both of them can kiss off in my book, for not having the courage to stand up and say "I am not going to be baited into this fight by the RW and MSM and expect my supporters not to be either.

I am disappointed in them both. They are jeopardizing the elections.

However I will fight and support whomever wins the Nom, but our jobs are going to be made all the harder by this.

Then the whole lot of them across the country could be put in a pile and set aflame. Problem is the MSM has been for Clinton for quite a while and if the machines are being hacked they are on the side that is doing it. and the Repugs would love to have Clinton as their competition, she's the easiest target.

I had positive feelings in New Hampshire.

I'm as confused today as I was that night.

71. A two point polling lead heading into a conservative state is very good news.

75. Absolutely.
I was on the ground there for a week. We have a great organization there and will get a major boost from Culinary, SEIU, and UNITE HERE. The offices are all overflowing with volunteer support and everyone is enthusiastic and hard working. Things look very good for Nevada and the polls are showing now.
