Michelle Obama called John F. Kennedy's presidency a "fairy tale."
She refuses to buy into the expectations of some supporters that her husband could unite the country and recreate the "Camelot" of John F. Kennedy's presidency. "Camelot to me doesn't work," she says. "It was a fairy tale that turned out not to be completely true because no one can live up to that. And I don't want to live like that."

Other dubious uses of the racist "Fairy Tale" in regards to Barack Obama

"By picking Springfield as opposed to Chicago, it goes along with the attempt to push this almost fairy tale aspect of the whole Obama political explosion." - Racist historian and author Taylor Pensoneau speaking to ABC News about Obama's presidential announcement location.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=2864211

---------

"The Bears are going to the Super Bowl," a gleeful Obama told reporters Monday outside a church in suburban Chicago. "I am happy for New Orleans. I think it's a wonderful story for their city, but this fairy tale ends when they come to Chicago." (using the term to describe a mostly African American football team who won against all odds isn't racist because, well, Obama said it.)

Can you go 2 weeks without flip-flopping on ANYTHING?

11. "Memo they sent?"
The campaign didn't send it out. Even HuffPo admits that. Campaigns constantly keep tabs and issue internal recaps on their opponents' potential missteps; this was just another one of those. It clearly isn't a talking-points memo; there aren't any talking points in there.

The Obama campaign had, for its own internal use, the fairy-tale statement, and the statement of an activist who believed it was offensive. That's it.

Saying "The Obama campaign called it racist" is an enormous stretch.

18. So, if a campaign
writes an internal memo detailing the controversial statements an opponent has made, along with some media reactions--and with no suggested responses, talking points, spin, or statements--and does not release it, nor do they make any public statements on the affair...

...isn't saying "They played the race card / called it racist" a distortion?

12. If surrogates/supporter comments can be used to dump on Hillary it seems fair to
do the same with Obama - the black radio/black blogs/black leadership in SC are claiming she gave them more reason to vote for Obama base on Bill Clinton's comment about Obama's pretending he has never wavered in his rejection of all things Iraq - indeed they pretend the comment was about the Obama campaign and a put down of the idea of a black running - despite the context and the actual words making it obvious that it was only about that anti-Iraq war stance by Obama.

16. data: re Obama denying he ever thought about running for President
Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 12:30 PM by papau
Immediately after joining the Senate, Senator Obama started planning run for President. "'The first order of business for Senator Obama's team was charting a course for his first two years in the Senate. The game plan was to send Senator Obama into the 2007-2008 election cycle in the strongest form possible'...The final act of the plan was turning up the talk about a potential Presidential bid, which was greatly aided by his positive press and suggestions by pundits that he run for President." (U.S. News and World Report, 6/19/07)

His law school classmates say that Senator Obama has been planning Presidential run for 'more than a decade.' (A)ccording to those who know him, he has been talking about the presidency for more than a decade. "It was clear to me from the day I met him that he was thinking about politics," says Harvard Law School classmate Christine Spurell.
15 years ago, Senator Obama told his brother-in-law he was planning to run for President. Craig pulled him aside and asked about his plans. "He said, 'I think I'd like to teach at some point in time, and maybe run for public office,' recalls Robinson, who assumed Senator Obama meant he'd like to run for city alderman. "He said no -- at some point he'd like to run for the U.S. Senate. And then he said, 'Possibly even run for President at some point.' And I was like, 'Okay, but don't say that to my Aunt Gracie.' I was protecting him from saying something that might embarrass him." (Washington Post, 8/12/07)

In third grade, Senator Obama wrote an essay titled 'I Want To Be a President.' His third grade teacher: Fermina Katarina Sinaga "asked her class to write an essay titled 'My dream: What I want to be in the future.' Senator Obama wrote 'I want to be a President,' she said." (The Los Angeles Times, 3/15/07)

In kindergarten, Senator Obama wrote an essay titled 'I Want to Become President.' "Iis Darmawan, 63, Senator Obama's kindergarten teacher, remembers him as an exceptionally tall and curly haired child who quickly picked up the local language and had sharp math skills. He wrote an essay titled, 'I Want To Become President,' the teacher said." (AP, 1/25/07)

Obama supporters habitually mentally edit and delete anything that could be seen as derogatory to their candidate, even if it's the Truth unearthing a Lie. I'm with you all the way on this. We have concerns on how much of his autobiographical depictions are accurate and how much of his selective embellishments fall into categorical LIES as well.

that the Obamas have used the term "fairy tale" in some context at some point in their lives?

I do realize the "fairy tale" ref Bill made has been taken out of context and its meaning has been twisted. But taking other quotes out of context in retaliation doesn't really do anything but make you look foolish.
