Clinton 25%, Edwards 19%, Obama 17%, Gravel 6%, Kucinich 3%
This is the percentage of time alloted to the candidates during the crucial first hour of the ABC debate in August.

Forget about the candidates for a moment and focus on the issues they bring to the discussion and what the corporate media does NOT want the American people to hear. What a relief for the big corporations!

Exposing the propaganda regarding the threat from Iran

Challenges to big oil --- attempting to control the resources of Iraq through the draft Irag Oil Law which Congress passed as a benchmark in the spring supplemental spending bill

Challenges to the insurance industry --- Not for profit health care

Challenges to the weapons manufactures ---reduced military spending

Accountability/impeachment

Free trade agreements, who voted for those agreements that affect jobs and salaries and under which administration they were signed into law

Now we can have debates without these bothersome issues being mentioned

:( :(

9. Thank you, it's always been about the top three as far as the
media is concerned, especially when you look at the time given to each candidate during the debates and their placement in front of the cameras.

13. Yes, and lately it's been mostly all about the top two...
I really think it's a shame that this whole campaign season seems to have devolved into a mud fight between Obama's people and Clinton's people. I wish they'd get back to the issues and stop making personal attacks.

Personally, I was more in favor of any one of the second-tier candidates than the top two, but that's usually the way it is for me. I guess I'm just a loser.

15. I have not even read about the recent mud fight nor have I
clicked on the threads here, it's just something to keep us busy while we send more troops to Afghanistan, threaten Iran, talk of forces going into Pakistan and try to control the resources of Iraq.

"...I was more in favor of any one of the second-tier candidates..."

Me too!

2. An intentional shut out
we're supposed to care more about celebrity gossip than issues effecting our lives.

VOTE KUCINICH!

6. Yes, debates about what Clinton said about Obama, what Obama
said about Edwards etc. are so helpful when discssing the real issues facing our nation.

:sarcasm:

11. If there's one thing Kucinich really contributes to the race
its the issues he raises during the debates. I'm not supporting him this time but there's a value in his being there for this reason.

14. Thanks, the challenges he raised to corporate interests and
crimes committed by this administration needed to be silenced. If we get involved with bombing another country it will be extremely difficult to move sentiment against us in a new direction.

Yet Bush continues to beat the drums and hardly a word from the top three about the propaganda.

12. Part of a debate is TAKING time away from the others. Sign of a good candidate nt

16. That is true to some extent, but the issue being discussed such
as the many exchanges we have seen about the 'he said this about you, you said this about her' really do not lend itself to taking the time away.

The moderator comes into play if you notice, they will let certain candidates take time and others they will continually cut off when they raise an uncomfortable topic. The placement of people can also be conducive to little exchanges between candidates as well as the follow up questions that are asked or not asked.

If there were not serious issues being dropped from the discussion it would be more amusing to see how the American people are kept from hearing about 'difficult issues.'
