That is, if we went with somebody other than this year's primary candidates?

Which I'm now convinced they don't. They're more interested in playing games and making statements with weaker candidates. I think the Party is hopelessly doom to run in circles chasing its tail.

I mean, nobody voted for him in Iowa whatsoever.

To me it depends on what happens with the current campaigns and events in the big wide world.

If some international shit hits the fan, McCain will look good to people who pick superficially or buy the GOP = better on terror/war argument.

The remaining 4 Dems look awfully weak on security and foreign affairs to me. That was the #1 reason I supported Biden - credibility across the spectrum (have heard so many independents and moderate Republicans say they would vote for him) + ability to work with GOP in Congress (you're fooling yourself if you think the Dems will control the next 8 years with a large margin) + realistic plan to get us out of Iraq. And until we're out of Iraq in a credible way, none of the domestic dreams of the other candidates are going to happen.

I'm more worried about getting the GOP out, but the American Idol contest seems to have won out.

OK, enough wallowing in my personal disappointment. But I'll be sporting "Don't blame me - I supported Biden" gear soon.

Now I think we need him more than ever. I think he could bring not only the party together, but the country and the world as well. We need change and I think Gore would be the best agent of that change, particularly in revolutionizing how we approach the environment and the oil economy, as well as helping to bring about a new wave of green-based jobs.
