Many voters are gonna say, Why even bother with all of this personal fighting stuff (regardless of who is right or who is wrong).

So Forget attempting to get a Woman or a Black man in office, we'll just stick to the Southern White Guy. He's safe, and why get all emotional and torn apart about divisive race and sex issues?

Now, as one who has never trusted John Edwards words vs. his record, I will say that this benefits him more than anyone.

7. I love the pattern. Obama/Edwards suppoters = Positive Comments,
Clinton supporters = Negative Comments.

It won't be the end of the world if Hillary doesn't get elected, you know. And showing some civility towards other candidates and their supporters doesn't diminish the support you feel for you own.

4. Yep. That NV poll made me wonder the same thing.
Edward's surge was the big story there.

I could live with that. It's certainly not the worst case scenario by any means.

8. That doesn't stop the media from talking about it....though
which is what they are doing....and just the noise isn't healthy for the nation, because it really isn't about solving the problems for minorities.

Obama didn't want race injected into this campaign for that reason....it counters his own inclusive message.

9. Um, he's being dragged into this pretty deeply. Despite his attempts...
...to stay out of it. There's no way the MSM would let him stay out of this and let the issue die, it's too good a story! Somebody's gotta buy those papers and watch those commercials.

Think about it.

10. Like I said, I don't care for Co-SPonsoring IWR Edwards.....
and never have....to be my President.

But that's the direction that I can clearly see it going.

He looks nice and status quo....sitting there between the two controversial candidates.

13. I don't vote for someone because of his/her race or gender
I'm voting for John Edwards because I think he's the best person for the job. Are you NOT voting for him because
he's southern, male and white?

17. Nope.....I'm not voting for Edwards because he co sponsored
the IWR. Because many of his votes counter his current message, including his Fortress involvement.

Believe me, it has nothing to do with Edwards color.

You can go back to my posts as far back as 2004, and know that Edwards has never been my candidate....ever....although I did support a White Male in the 2004 election.

16. I think it's being unfairly labeled as a "fight" when it's all Hillary's doing.
Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 02:51 PM by jenmito
But that's how the media's portraying it. They just reported that he's at a roundtable discussion right now about the economy but he's getting questions about this whole race thing, and he answers that he didn't interject race into this campaign. It was all Hillary's doing with a comment she made and she is now explaining.

This whole thing stinks of RW tactics...by the Clintons.

18. Problem is that it may not end up helping the Clintons....
which is ironic.

Although I will say that Edwards, having accepted matching funds, would not be a very good choice in terms of winning this election in the GE. Edwards' vetting wouldn't be pretty.

21. I agree...
which is why Bill has been making the Black talk radio circuit. But I still doubt Edwards can beat Obama. I almost hope he beats out Hillary, though. As long as Obama wins.

24. I don't think so
If Edwards were to become more viable, then attention would turn to him and the nitpicking will continue. It doesn't matter. Who ever is in the lead is going to be undeservedly attacked on made-up issues.

26. Because we all know DU will decide the election
:sarcasm: It is the Obama and Clinton campaigns who are fueling this. Saint Obama can't be blamed for anything so blame posters on a small website instead.

Anyone catch how this thread purporting to call for a cease-fire is actually an opportunity for a negative attack on Edwards? Obamites call for a politics of hope but they continue to swiftboat Edwards. The OP all but calls Edwards a hypocrite and liar. Then the thread's creator, who claims to be advocating peace, takes even the most tangential opportunity to attack Edwards.
