Why Hillary & Obama convince me that John Edwards should be the Democratic Nominee
I'm basically a Kucinich supporter, already leaning toward Edwards ...due to Dennis's snowball-chance-in-Hell of becoming
the nominee and because Edwards is so much closer to Kucinich across the board on issues vital to the country right now.

My other reasons for leaning toward Edwards are because the Corporatist's are clearly so freaked out by the prospect of
having to run against Edwards in the General election, and because Edwards is the only one of the "big three"
who's refused to take money from corporate lobbyists, and because he's been shown to be THE strongest Democratic
presidential candidate most likely to win against ALL Rethuglican comers, and because of his strong union endorsements,
and... well, let's leave it at that for now.

Anyway, this morning I had this epiphany, while reflecting on all the acrimony and vitriol being generated by our two M$M
darlings Clinton and Obama. "You're just racist!!" .. "No, your being sexist" .. "But you smoked cocaine" ..yadda yadda .. :puke:

I'm noticing that --for the most part -- Edwards is successfully avoiding this kind of pissing match, but rather stays outside
the fray, only occasionally making relatively diplomatic and tactful comments, which if anything tend to defuse and clarify what's
really going on.

Then I ask myself: What kind of person does America need right now sitting in the Oval Office in Jan. 09? Someone prone to
getting into petty pissing matches? .. or someone with the good sense to stay above the fray, sick to the issues, defuse petty
conflicts while simultaneously fighting tooth & nail for the kind of change that America really needs right now?

When I reflect on these questions, yet another really good reason to support Edwards wholeheartedly as the Democratic
nominee comes into focus. Edwards is demonstrating he has the kind of presidential timbre America so desperately needs right
now, and he really deserves our support.

1. Your thoughts echo my own, and I love your description of
"defuse and clarify". Well stated on describing the involvement he has had in this.

3. Edwards will be the benefactor of all this poo-flinging
Perhaps rightly so. I'm getting tired of the "frontrunners" ignoring the issues and spinning into this vortex of dysfunctional juvenile bickering.

7. I agree. They fight because they're so much alike!
Scratch beneath the veneers of Clinton and Obama, and you'll find the same old piece of furniture.

That's why they're battling over polls, offhand remarks, and various other types of trivia. There's no point in arguing over policy: they agree more often than not. The shallow spat is doing a tremendous disservice to the country. We need to behave like grownups and tackle some very serious issues.

I too am a Kucinich fan (and will probably still vote for him in the California primary), but for reasons already stated, I'm warming up and getting ready to throw all my support behind Edwards, the only "top tier" candidate on our side with the guts to talk about the root of our problems: corporate greed.

32. If there was any justice
There would be an inversion where the two 'top tier candidates' flip over giving Edwards and Kucinich an opportunity to rise up and change the face of the primaries. Besides, the winners of Iowa and New Hampshire are frequently upset historically speaking. And this is despite the rising anti-democratic specter of cable 24 hour news.

4. I think one of the reasons Hillary and Obama are in a pissing match
is they are letting their narcissism prevail over better judgment. I think it takes a pretty big ego to run
for President, but I think that Edwards has his in check a lot better than Hillary and Obama do.

8. Yep. Unfettered egos are not a pretty sight.
To me, more and more, Hillary and Obama represent a kind of Democratic Death-wish in motion.

Edwards could kick any Republican ass they nominate.

Why in the world would we nominate someone who acts like this in the primary? go figur.

11. Actually I live in Oregon, too bad about CA...
don't people there get it yet? maybe cuz they watch too much TV?

..which renders Edwards pretty much invisible .. Edwards who?

I'm tempted to come down there an canvass before Super Tuesday, since Oregon's primary is one
of the LAST ones.. in May i think.

all the more down the road..

15. sigh. Edwards does take corporate money
and Obama has not taken any lobbyist money in this campaign. I respect your choice, but I disagree that Edwards is substantially different policy wise from either Obama or Clinton. And frankly, I cannot vote in the primary for someone who was as gung ho to go to war as he was.

Each of those candidates are going to suffer. They will both suffer blowback. People do not like what is going down between them.
