One thing is clear: Bill Clinton has been smeared with a bogus accusation of racism
Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 06:32 PM by brentspeak
How his characterization of Obama's alleged opposition to the Iraq War ("Give me a break. This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I've ever seen...") got misrepresented as some sort of racially-insensitive attack on the legitimacy of Obama's campaign is anyone's guess. From what I can tell, there's a bunch of mainstream media pundits and reporters who are deliberately conflating Bill Clinton's "fairy tale" remarks with Hillary Clinton's remarks about MLK/LBJ. As well, Michelle Obama seems to have zero qualms about misrepresenting Bill Clinton's comments (in the same way that the Clinton campaign have zero qualms about spreading whispers about Obama's alleged drug use as a young person).

This nation's mainstream media is a sick joke -- but both the Obama and the Clinton campaigns are apparently only too happy to offer the media limitless red meat.

1. It is clear that you are getting off on this.....
Obama has commented, so maybe you should let it go now. I know it's hard, but continuing it won't make you any more right.

11. I didn't see that, and I'm glad Obama made that statement.
Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 06:39 PM by brentspeak
But, in other words, Obama's statement supports my OP: Bill Clinton was being maligned on this particular matter.

17. I hadn't seen Obama's statement either
I agree with him, and I don't think that either Hillary or Bill's statements were racially motivated. I think it's surrogates on either side who are causing the problems.

14. BTW, has Michelle Obama apologized to Bill Clinton?
She was front-and-center in mislabeling his remarks.

Unfortunately, there are still people on both sides of the issue who can't let it go.

8. No, something else is clear

Bill Clinton is way too involved with Hillary's campaign and should shut the fuck up and stay the fuck out - but he won't, because he wants to be back in the White House more than she does.

12. I agree

It would be a good idea for all involved (Hillary and Obama) if Bill just stays on the sideline and keeps his mouth shut. Showing up to wave and smile at Hillary's rallies is ok; but offering up his opinions to the press only serves to give the media some other juicy gossip to play around with.

10. Bill will survive
Follow FrenchieCat's link; Obama doesn't even want to go there.

Team Clinton isn't racist, Team Obama isn't sexist, there are a lot of staffers and partisans who are overheated, and there are real issues to be debated.
