Obama's message to his supporters - LISTEN UP
You have seen a tone on the Democrat side of the campaign that has been unfortunate. I want to stipulate a couple of things. I may disagree with Senator Clinton and Senator Edwards on how to get there, but we share the same goals. We all believe in civil rights. We all believe in equal rights. They are good people. They are patriots....

I don't want the campaign at this stage to degenerate to so much tit-for-tat, back-and-forth, that we lose sight of why we are doing this.

Obama said he wants to send "a strong signal to my own supporters that let’s try to focus on the work that needs to get done. If I hear my own supporters engaging in talk that I think is ungenerous or misleading or unfair, I will speak out forcefully against it....

Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton have historically been on the right side of civil rights issues. They care about the African American community.… That is something I am convinced of. I want Americans to know that is my assessment.

Obama is saying that it wasn't a racist comment. He's asking for the continued infighting to stop.

It doesn't need to be said, and only continues to fan the flames. Just let it go and move on.

40. If Obama wants this to carry any weight, he needs to start by...
...making a statement in regard to Jesse Jackson Jr's inane accusations--"that the Obama campaign is closely analyzing Hillary's tears and...oh yeah, we never saw her crying over the Katrina tragedy so...(she's a racist)"

And then...actually fire the idiot.

45. Well your standards for unfair are probably lower
come to think of it I can't think of a criticism of Hillary that hasn't been labeled unfair.

Oh yeah, "Republicans hate her and she can't win an election," I think even Hillary fans can agree with the first half of that.

Other than that, I've got nothing. Throw out all the criticisms they've labeled unfair and you can't even say that she had a bad haircut in 1992. Oh, Oh! I got one! She's TOO perfect, if we ever see her TRUE form we'll spontaneously combust.

More then anything we need a united party. People may bitch and yell "Lockstep- yadda yadda yadda" but without party unity we will lose in November and I wthink we can all agree the results would be devastating to our country and our futures.

The infighting has to stop. The fruckin' GOP is probably fanning it for all we know and it's time to put down the matches and figure out how we're all going to make America great again.

Good for Barack. Now let's hope Bill and Hillary and my boy John will pick up on it and start playing by the Marquess of Queensbury rules again. We can take the gloves off and load up the liar cannon after the nomination .

This whole line.

If anyone thinks they haven't been waiting to see if this plays and continue on or shut it down, I've got a bridge to sell ya.

Anyway, now the pundits have taken up the cause, his supporters will continue to cry racism and he comes away looking like Mr. Hope and Love again.

Sorry, Jersey, this whole thing has been an exercise in hardball campaigning.

Racial politics has been played since the early summer, at least, by the Clinton campaign. A few lobs back at them were overdue, imo.

No bridges here to sell. How about the Sierra Madres? (OMG was that sexist?)
