Obama sealed the deal with this debate...
Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 11:02 PM by Wolsh
The " No substance" meme ends tonight.

He was succinct, thorough, personable and just damn good.

His best debate performance so far. Good for him.

1. Hillary looked strong and presidential..
Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 11:03 PM by Tellurian
Obama came across as a well intentioned individual but isn't ready from day one to quickly bring the changes we need in America.

11. Not at all..
She trumped everyones ideas with details.. Details are sorely lacking in the other two candidates!

She led...the others complied and followed!

14. She detailed the problems but not what she was going to do.
I would give Edwards the edge on details.

19. Hillary's economic package addresses real, current problems facing Americans..
Edwards didn't have the answers and neither did Obama with his $250 rebate check..

That is what Krugman meant when he said Obama is leaning Right with his Economic Plan. Remember Bush's $650 rebate?

12. I agree. They all did great but Obama did not stumble and answered the questions
directly and with substance. I felt Edwards looks stressed on the Yucca Mountain question and Hillary tends to ramble and talk about the problems but doesn't give as many solutions as the other two. I think Hillary and Edwards tied for second and Obama came out slightly ahead of them. Good debate all around by everyone.

15. It wouldn't have been presidential for Hillary to push him a second time..
sparks would have flown. She was right about Edwards, he voted several times for nuclear storage at Yucca Mtn.

He danced around the accusation and went off on a tangent.

16. I like that he gave a straight answer to the "what are your strengths/weaknesses" question
Instead of trying to characterize a strength as a weakness ("I care too much"), he flatly stated one of his weaknesses - that he's not terribly organized.

Clinton seemed to corner him with that one when she pointed out that George Bush was not a micro-manager and look where that got us. But Obama had a perfect comeback, noting that Bush's problem was not a lack of organization - that he probably knew where every piece of paper on his desk was - but that he lacked judgment and integrity.

It was a lovely parry, without sniping or rancor, and they both came out fine at the end.

Obama spoke very truthfully.
Hillary uses the same trickery as Bush.

24. All three were good...
I was really happy for Obama...have only seen this debate and the one last week on ABC...
in that one he appeared to sleepwalk through it and I was very unimpressed...tonight he was very good...

They were all respectful, and seemed to know what they were talking about...
I feel better about our candidates than I had in a long time, and it is thanks to their attitude during this debate...

congrats to everyone!
