I think Obama actually gave his weakest performance tonight. He was good,
but I know he can do much better. Hillary stunned both him and Edwards with her indepth knowledge, clarity, boldness, and non-confrontational presentation.

13. I have seen the yelling, shouting and loud threads at least 3 time tonight.
I didn't see it. Hatred and the mind are powerful allies.

3. Edwards was quite competitive with Hillary though.
Obama was clearly in last place.

9. I don't agree
I'm an Edwards supporter, but I think that Obama won the debate. I think that Obama was trying to be careful as to not be perceived as attacking Hillary.

5. I mostly agree
She did seem to be in charge - she was somewhat lucky to get the middle chair as well.

17. You see what you want to see
I thought this was his first really good debate and I think it probably helped him among those who are still open minded and undecided. Having said this, I am proud that these three fine candidates are representing the Democratic Party. I have yet to get through a Republican debate with out dozing off. They are a boring and pathetic lot.

18. I like Obama, but tonight I saw President Obama
I felt very reassured by his presence.

Edwards won arguments but was very hot. Hillary was ok. Not offensive and not grating like she normally is to me. I found her bland.

20. Although I found Barack to seem somewhat disgusted at times(and I don't blame him)
and he smiled less than he has in the past (and smiling is definitely a part of his appeal-cause it lights up a room)...it was appropriate after that had gone on leading up to the debate. But his comportement didn't seem like such a bad thing because it makes him appear serious and determined, which is a good thing. he was calm and cool when he needed to be, and carried himself with a true air of authenticity while still able to add a dash of humor. He conveyed oftentimes that he sees and understands the big picture very clearly, and knows what qualities that are his own that he can offer to the presidency. He was eloquent, thought provoking, pensive, and original. His statement on conservation was the only mention of what we, as citizens, could do right away. The mention of No Child behind, and his concern about Black fathers not always meeting their responsibilities was very effective as it was on point.

And if one thinks that Baracks ponderous pausing as he speaks is distracting (which I don't have a problem with myself), John Edwards batting eyes and weak moved wrist are really, really hard to take. At least with Barack, you know he is processing his thoughts, and you actually don't mind waiting for what he's gonna say.

I give the win of the debate to Barack for meaningful substance and originality.

I loved his response to the question on Hispanics not voting for blacks conclusion of a HRC pollster. "In Illinois that wasn't true, they voted for me" with a huge grin was great. Also, he was the only one who laughed naturally at jokes by others.

The looks they gave each other were interesting. My college student's assessment was that HRC's looks at Edwards looked like she wanted to destroy him, her looks at Obama, belied her friendly words, and showed disdain. She had previously considered not voting in the primaries as no one impressed her - she now is thinking of getting an absentee ballot to vote for Obama. (Note - I have little influence there - she had the choice to register in MA (and vote for a GREAT Senator or NJ - she chose NJ).

JE and Obama did well..although I think her in depth command on all issues prove she is more prepared than the others.
