1. Durbin and Obama are both from the same state, so it would have to be

a non-Illinois person, I think.

Obama/Napolitano.

Clinton/Breaux.

And my favorites: Edwards/Bill Bradley, Edwards/Richardson, Edwards/Sebelius, or Edwards/Feingold.

For the other side, I think any GOP nom may choose Tim Pawlenty for their veep nom.

4. Frighteningly enough, I think Haley Barbour is a likely shortlister for the Pukes.

A few of the elves suggest to me that Obama might choose Tom Daschle, that HClinton might choose Clark or Bayh, and that Edwards might choose Max Cleland.

6. I don't think we have a good VP candidate for Obama or Hillary.
Edited on Wed Jan-16-08 10:05 AM by Bleachers7
I don't see who would be a good fit. Maybe Mark Warner, but he's running for Senate.

I think Huckabee would be a terrific VP candidate for the republicans if he could keep his mouth shut.

12. It's indication of their worth that either Biden or Dodd would be excellent
choices for several veep/Cabinet slots.

Two very talented souls.

20. Webb is a bad choice. Why give up a Senate seat from a state
Edited on Wed Jan-16-08 10:44 AM by cali
that's barely purple? I know the guv is a dem, but I thought they had to hold a special election if Webb gives up his seat. Furthermore, he's only been a Senator for a year, and he wasn't in the gov't very long- he was Secretary of the Navy for all of 10 months.

15. Obama won't have Clinton as a running mate
and I can't imagine Clinton having Obama as her VP, either.

What would be best would be Edwards/Kucinich. Hey, the primaries aren't over 'til the fat lady sings.

Biden or Clark would be good choices.

16. My thoughts:
Obama: Richardson. I've been pushing the To Hell With Whitey ticket for a while now. Richardson brings tons of experience to the table without overshadowing the presidential candidate.

Clinton: Obama. I think Obama's on the ticket regardless of whether he wins or loses. The man's a natural, and it's foolish not to take advantage of that. And Hillary may be a lot of things, but stupid is not one of them. This also would serve to heal the rift in the party that a Clinton nomination could cause, and on a personal level for Obama, it would give him that all-important experience that is his current Achilles' heel. Plus, it has the added effect of turning all those indie voters who are essentially tied into the Obama cult of personality rather than any politics or policy from Obama voters into Hillary voters.

Edwards: Richardson. Edwards needs a guy from the west who has a lot of experience. That's Bill.

McCain: Huckabee. It would draw in the evangelical voters who loathe McCain.

Romney: McCain, for the same reason Clinton should pick Obama. A McCain pick would draw in all those people who are not drawn to Republicans, but instead to the notion of McCain as "maverick."

Huckabee: Jesus. Nuff said.

17. So many choices
I'd love to see either Obama/Clark or Obama/Richardson. For Clinton, I can also see Clark or Richardson as good VP picks. For Edwards, I see a woman as a possible running mate (not sure why), perhaps either Sebelius or Napolitano. Biden or Dodd would also be excellent picks for any of the Dem candidates.

I don't want to speculate on the rethug picks. All of the possible combinations sicken me. :scared:

21. Obama/Biden, Clinton/Clark, Edwards/Sebelius or Napolitano--
those are easy. Repubs: McCain/Pawlenty (exec experience, pick up a blue state), Romney/Hagel (Romney and McCain HATE each other, but Romney still needs an Indie-attracting Washington insider with authenticity), Huckabee/McCain (needs an insider, helps him with Indies).
