Clinton wins on short ballot
Faced with an incomplete ballot, Democratic voters locally and statewide overwhelmingly chose former first lady and New York Sen. Hillary Clinton as their nominee in Tuesday's primary election.

Area voters said the war in Iraq and the economy were on their minds as they cast ballots in the run up to November's general election.

Other Democrats on Michigan's ballot wereDennis Kucinich, Chris Dodd and Mike Gravel.

and Mike Gravel. Frontrunners Barack Obama and John Edwards took their names off the ballot when the state moved its primary to January, offending both the Republican and Democratic parties and costing the Democrats all their delegates at the national convention.

1. I won't vote for Kucinich now ...

I was debating on whether to vote for Kucinich or my next choice, Edwards. With two frontrunners off the ballot, Kucinich could only get 4% of the vote. You would expect many votes from Obama and Edwards to shift towards Kucinich, but that wasn't the case. They switched to undecided.

It's clear at this point that Kucinich cannot draw enough voters to be recognized at the convention and make a difference.

2. with a very very low turnout.. and I LIVE IN MI.. the uncommitted and Kucinich

votes came out at 42% of those that showed up to vote.
Knowing the HRC was the only viable candidate on the ballot, many many sat out the primary election. When you couple the votes that uncommitted received coupled with the fact that many many michiganders didn't show up to vote because their candidate was not on the ballot, it doesn't bode well for Mrs. Clinton.

4. Yet a solid majority voted for Clinton knowing their vote didn't mean much.
It shows she has a solid core of supporters that is much stronger than the others.

6. Or that people are somewhat more likely to vote for Hillary when the vote is meaningless
and the opponent is no one.

8. But it's really all you can say, right?
You can theorize that it indicates support, but the way I stated simply restates the actual facts.

5. How about this scenario?
It was cold and snowy and I knew my candidate, Hillary Clinton, would win easily, so I just didn't get out to vote? Huh? Sounds plausible to me.
