It looks incredibly childish and only hurts us in the general election. It is like clockwork, though. And the GOP just loves it.

Have never been a big Edwards fan due to his insane display of wealth and $2,000 haircuts but I wonder if he might slip in the back door.

1. $2000 haircuts?
Never heard that one. It was $400. But so what!

2. I'm a little ashamed to admit this but...
...I really haven't been following the primaries as much as I thought I would have. The Dems have been such a disappointment since retaking Congress that so far I'm having trouble getting excited about any of the candidates and the sniping that has been going on has made me tune out even more. At some time before November I'll get with the program but right now I'm just not feeling it.

3. What $2000 haircut?
Edited on Fri Jan-18-08 10:06 AM by havocmom

They had a professional come in, ended up making that professional wait while Edwards had to attend to other business. The professional lost income being away from other clients during that long wait, so the professional was actually PAID for the time and lost income.

I wish some of the rich clients I have lost income waiting on over the years had been as fair. If you cost a professional time, you cost that professional money. It is fair and honorable to make an adjustment in payment to account for the difference in the fee for the service you received and the income that professional would have received if other clients could have been attended in that lost time.

edited for typo

5. Not propaganda, as you phrase it......
It is the truth. Edwards DOES come across as a rich guy with his multi-million dollar homes and flying in someone for a haircut. Again, reality. What else can I say?

I like Obama and he is my guy. Would I vote for Edwards is he was the nominee? Yes.

But, I have issues with Edwards.

6. He is rich. Good on him. He worked hard and earned it ............
as a plaintiff's attorney fighting for real people who had been wronged!

Suggest you do a little reading:

John Edwards, Esq.

Republicans believe that Americans will never elect a trial lawyer president. They're wrong.

10. I have NOTHING against rich people....
He worked hard and earned his money--good for him and anyone else who does that. It is his money and he should be able to spend it as he wishes.

BUT, I just have personal issues with the lavish lifestyle......while claiming to champion the poor. It falls on deaf ears to me. Again, my opinion. Others may not have a problem with it.

We just agree to disagree....and that is ok!

11. Most rich people live a lavish life style.
What about the Kennedy family?

Wealthy people who fight for the needy and middle class are to be admired.

$2,000.00 hair cuts and multi-million dollar homeS. That is not true.

8. "insane display of wealth and $2,000 haircuts"
Go away and leave Edwards alone.

Nothing wrong with a self-made man, and nothing wrong with an expensive haircut -- and, it wasn't 2k, but you know that already.

12. Kinda sad when I am attacked for simply stating my thoughts.....
Would I vote for Edwards if he were the nominee? Yes. Without a doubt.

But, yes, I have issues with the man.

There is a difference.

14. You are 'attacked' for getting the story wrong. You made a statement about JE which is not true
Edited on Fri Jan-18-08 10:42 AM by havocmom
State thoughts all you want. I am usually one of the first around here to defend the right of people to state their 'thoughts', even when unpopular. But I will bust the chops of anyone who states dishonest talking points, hoping they will be taken as fact then hide behind excuses like stating thoughts. And that is what the shit about a $2000 haircut is. Period.

Gotta laugh cuz the GOP talking point about expensive haircuts (which are really the going rate in a wide market, and well paid GOP pundits damned well know it) reminds me of a cartoon I say back in the 90s. It showed Barbara Bush explaining she made her money by being born to it. Nancy Reagan explaining her money by marrying into it. Hillary Clinton explaining her money by pointing out that SHE EARNED IT!

I see the same crap being leveled at John Edwards and his bank account as was used by the GOP and likes of limbaugh against Hillary Clinton back when they were trying to marginalize her and lessen her voice.

Nice try with the haircut meme. Thanks for playing. We have lovely parting gifts....

edit: typo again

15. The GOP just loves it. The bickering stands in stark contrast to the unity of the Republicans today
Oh wait, they're having an even nastier pissing contest. I don't think they're even paying attention to our candidates.

What else ya got?

21. He has a point
The GOP does love it and their talkshows go on and on and on about it. Having said that, I also believe it isn't relevent come next November and the republicans will get trounced by our side regardless of who wins.

23. That's probably why some of them sign up and post here to stir shit up and repeat debunked memes
Just an observation made over long years around here and other forums. I have seen shit posted here then immediately hear it turn up on hate radio. When things get tough for bushco, the talking points get spread faster on the internet.

Rove admitted THEY create 'reality'. But their created reality is seldom close to truth.

17. No different from the Romney/McCain/ Huckabee poundings
And talking about insane displays of wealth, Romney having a net worth of half a trillion or more and outspending his opponents by 4 to 1 is my idea of insane display of wealth, not the Edwards' dream home.

24. Don't be mislead by the behavious of their supporters here on DU
Obama and Hillary *are* pounding each other to some extent, but anything either of them says that could possibly be interpreted as a criticism of the other gets seized upon by dozens of assholes from either side here on DU and turned into a full-scale war.

I am rather dreading the day when the primary is finally over, and we have to put up with the spectacle of one lot crowing and taking the opportunity to kick the other when their down.
