Kansas City Star Endorses Hillary for President
<snip>
Sen. Hillary Clinton

In the Democratic contest, the top candidates all show a solid grasp of the public’s general dissatisfaction with the economy and the disappointments in Iraq and Afghanistan. They have spotlighted health-care reform as well.

In our view, however, Sen. Clinton would be the top choice for the Democratic nomination. She is a woman of obvious intelligence with a strong commitment to reform on health care, taxes, energy, immigration, education and global warming.

And Clinton gives voters a clear picture of what she has in mind. On health care, for instance, she offers a comprehensive program that would allow people to keep their current insurance coverage or choose from among the health plans available to members of Congress.

Despite her strong differences with Republicans, she has shown the ability to work with some of them in Congress. And from years of experience in Washington, she speaks thoughtfully about what the federal government can and can’t do.

4. They hit the nail on the head....and they've echoed something that I've been saying about HRC
The b.s. about her being "divisive" is just that....b.s.

She has worked with some of the very same people who voted to remove her husband from office. She's worked with Sen. Lindsey Graham on issues regarding our troops, for example.

She can get the job done!

5. Actually, it's an endorsement for Obama. A close count shows he got the, uh, most punctuation marks
or something, I forget what, but he got the most of them, whatever they were. So he gets the endorsement and it's just machine politics for Hillary to claim she got it.

7. The Star's last endorsement resulted in disaster
The Star supported Mark Funkhouser for Kansas City mayor, and what an unwise choice that turned out to be. With the help of the Star, Funkhouser won, just barely, and oh how we regret it now.

8. Not really a disaster. The guy's made a lot of gaffes
but it's not like he's getting in the way of anybody on the city council who has productive ideas on how to tackle poverty, crime, shitty schools, rotting infrastructure, and other issues plaguing the city. The city's "leadership" is in serious denial about these problems, so trying to hang this all on one guy isn't fair.
