The Nation: Clinton and Obama Win Nevada
So the Clintons like Nevada after all.

Hillary Clinton beat Barack Obama by about six points in the state's caucus on Saturday, netting 12 of the 25 delegates at stake. But Barack Obama won the number that could matter most, earning 13 of Nevada's national convention delegates, which ultimately determine the Democratic nominee. That made for a "split decision," according to Congressman James Clyburn, an influential member of the House Democratic leadership who is unaffiliated with any candidate. Obama sounded even more confident on Saturday, saying "we came from over twenty-five points behind to win more national convention delegates than Hillary Clinton because we performed well all across the state, including rural areas where Democrats have traditionally struggled." But it's not that simple.

5. He's sending a message to the Clintons. He obviously didn't like what the Clintons did re: Obama.

And he's showing his disapproval-that he didn't buy Bill's explanation.

9. Thanks
No, I didn't read it until now. I expect Hillary to win Super Tuesday anyway, and I will be behind her 100% if that happens.

8. This is why the caucus system is so damn convoluted. I would
hope by 2012 the head of the democratic party HRC will tell the dnc chairperson that unless those states that now have caucuses do not change to vote casting then they will not be alloted any delegates just like Dean did this time with Michigan and Florida.

But I still say HRC won and hrc cut his legs right out from under him in nevada, cause he was struting all this week saying he was going to win. He didn't win chit. He lost and it will be April before the delegates are finalized.....and the un-pledged will vote HRC cause by then she will have a majority or 2025 delegate count....

11. This is the most interesting line in the article...
Translation: If this thing is close, "we" party insiders will "choose" for the rest of the state.

At least the sparring over delegates has forced out a rare political confession, helping expose the distortions of these party rules.

12. I think he is playing to the media
This will force all the news outlets to explain a "split decision" instead of just spitting out, Clinton Wins Nevada.

It may end up being a good move, it may be a disaster. I am sure it will turn up in Monday's debate.

I still think that the popular "vote" trumps the delegate count.

What a weekend !!! Politics on saturday, football on sunday and then politics on monday.. fun fun fun.

13. Taking a loss graciously is part of being a leader.
No other candidate would even consider asking for such.

I hope Mr Clyburn does not begin to marginalize himself.

14. I think my favoite part of all this...
was the lawsuit: http://media.lasvegassun.com/media/pdfs/2008/01/16/OppoDemsMTNRelief.pdf

The arcane caucus rules are not only important because they determine -- and potentially distort -- the voters' will. The caucus itself was a controversial issue all week, as the Clinton Campaign said parts of the system were unfair and potentially illegitimate. President Clinton ratcheted up the rhetoric on Friday, saying he personally witnessed voter suppression by members of a union backing Obama, an explosive charge that senior Clinton aides could not substantiate. (NBC's Chuck Todd pressed the issue on a Saturday conference call for reporters.)
