Clinton - NH; Obama - IA; NV = Split
Well, what did we learn from today's Caucus? Nothing new really. Older people (45+) trend towards Clinton.. Younger voters trend to Obama. Women like Hillary more then Men do. As reported, the Black vote is trending highly to Obama, while the hispanic vote seems to be with Clinton.

Clinton wins the popular vote; Obama wins the delegates. Depending on which camp you're in determines which one you think is more important. For all of you who think the delegates are more important - ask yourself if you thought the same way in November, 2000. For those who think the popular vote is the most important, ask yourself if that mattered in November, 2000.

What does this mean about today? Nothing!! It means we have 47 states left to go!! Why the HECK are we calling each other "sore losers" or "non-winners". Screaming at each other through blogs and posts and doing whatever possible to tear each other down? It's like we've taken everything we hate about Bush and plastered it on to the face of the opposing dem we're not voting for in the Primary.

Look, I myself am guilty of thinking "If Obama doesn't win, then screw Clinton - i'm just not going to vote".. and that is because I get worked up reading all of this stuff - and deciding I only like the posts directed to me & my audience (the Pro Obama camp). Everything the Clinton people write is wrong, biased, and off-base. Sound familiar?

But with three days off and time to clear my head, i've realized this is ridiculous - and TOTALLY PLAYS INTO THE REPUBLICANS GAME PLAN. They are LOVING this.. watching us split and tear each other apart. We're turning our fear into a reality with the "Clinton can't win she's polarizing and Obama can't win he's to inexperienced and black" bullshit. That way we're prepared in November to rip each other to shreds when we lose. "See, I told you Clinton couldn't win".. or "See, a black guy never had a shot and you are responsible for us losing this election."

We say it to each other long enough that we start to believe it. 1/2 of us stay home in November and pout while the republicans run to the polls and drag a few independents with them. And then they win. Again.

Do we want that? Again?

1. NV was supposed to be Hillary's coronation. Comeback Kid Obama says "not so fast."
BO gets the split decision.

South Carolina will be HUGE.

and right now I'm ticked off at Obama, but I will vote for him in the general if he is the nominee.

4. They are both good and strong candidates
And I really believe our Party has been better served by having this be a protracted battle for the nomination than it would have been had one candidate waltzed to an early easy victory, and I say that as a supporter of the woman who it was thought might get to have that dance. I beleive that because this campaign is forcing our candidates to move beyond slogans and/or perceived organizational advantages to really reach for the hearts and minds of the voters on a national basis. Only John Edwards has actually run for a national office before and he was second on that ticket. The lessons that Clinton and Obama (and Edwards also if he can somehow rally from his current disadvantage) are learning now will serve whoever we ultimately nominate well in the Fall campaign against the Republicans.

Our candidate will come out of this stronger for being tested. The only question now is will we match that strength with unity to help him or her win the White House from the Republicans in 2008. The thinking you share in your OP is exactly what we all need to be exploring for ourselves now, while the final outcome of the nominating process remains in doubt.

5. And Obama wins rural
which I think is really important.

The Clintons chose their campaign tactics. The right wing didn't make them do any of it. I will never defend them. She'll get my vote, barring a dead intern. I opposed them based on policy and some shady fundraising connections before. I never thought I'd see voter suppression, that's just unacceptable and I will be ashamed if she is sworn into office. Better than a Republican, just barely.
