Bill Clinton says he witnessed voter suppression (Does ANYONE believe this!?)
Edited on Sun Jan-20-08 11:18 AM by Bonobo
Frankly, this stretches the limits of the imagination to think Bill, with his entourage, would have been able to "witness" this while "wandering" through the casino. In fact, it is a joke and an insult to make his claim. THIS is the real fraud.

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0108/Bill_Clinton_claims_he_witnessed_voter_suppression.html

Bill Clinton, speaking at a Vegas YMCA last night, made more charges against Obama and claimed to have, with Chelsea, personally witnessed voter suppression by the Culinary Workers:

"There is this whole business of the new politics. Well I got a taste of the new politics today. We need a new politics where we all love each other. You’ve heard all that. There’s a radio ad up in the northern part of Nevada telling Republicans that they ought to just register as Democrats for a day so they can beat Hillary and go out and be Republicans next week and vote in the primary. Doesn’t sound like the new politics to me.

Today when my daughter and I were wandering through the hotel, and all these culinary workers were mobbing us telling us they didn’t care what the union told them to do, they were gonna caucus for Hillary.

There was a representative of the organization following along behind us going up to everybody who said that, saying 'if you’re not gonna vote for our guy were gonna give you a schedule tomorrow so you can’t be there.' So, is this the new politics? I haven’t seen anything like that in America in 35 years. So I will say it again – they think they're better than you."

(The transcript was provided by one source with a recording of the event, and confirmed by another.)

1. No more than I think that Obama's complaints of voter supression in NH
were true.

They're both lying.

3. Please provide the Obama quote. Did he claim to have "personally witnessed" it?
Edited on Sun Jan-20-08 11:20 AM by Bonobo
I think there is a big difference between saying that "there are reports" and "I personally witnessed it". Particularly coming from the former 2-term President of the United States. Don't you?

2. If he actually said anything that ridiculous, he deserves to get popped.
The idea that one of the most recognizible people in the country, with his complete entourage behind him, is just going to happen to see "voter suppression" up close and personal is zero.

One more dirty tactic of the Hillary Clinton campaign, trying to accuse everyone else of what they tried to do with their lawsuit to stop the caucuses.

8. Hey man, I didn't call him a racist.
I just asked the question: Was he manipulating racist feelings among those that have them already?

Questions, especially difficult ones have always troubled those in power.

17. I know what I asked and I meant it.
Edited on Sun Jan-20-08 11:35 AM by Bonobo
There are lots of ways to skin a cat. It sounded like a question that might be loaded with subtext. I asked a question. Asking a question doesn't mean I said he was a racist.

But frankly everyone has some racist tendencies and even those that don't can still EMPLOY racism to achieve their ends.

Don't be so naive and don't try to turn it around on me. Nobody cares about me. I do NOT affect the political process. But I am allowed to ask questions.

Don't be so naive.

On edit: Don't bother responding. I will not be continuing YOUR sad little line of ad honinem attack.

26. Boo hoo. I am so injured by that. Err, umm, not.
Your failure to address the substance of the OP says much, much more than you realize about YOU.

It says you frankly don't care about the real voter suppression and dirty tricks here but would rather hunt around for little words that you THINK you can make hay out of.

Well here's the news: It makes no difference what you say about me.

Do I think it is possible that the Big Dog, who grew up in an area of the country with a lot of racism, is capable of appealing to the racist side of people to help his wife get elected? Hell yes. Hell yes, I do.

Does it matter to me if an anonymous poster accuses me of ACCUSING Bill Clinton of racism?

Not in the least. Go for it.

6. If you were ever in a overbearing macho union, you wouldn't even ask that question
I was a member of the AFL-CIO and the bosses were intimidating assholes

I could write a very raunchy scathing book about them

11. yes, I'm sure he is telling th e truth. Unions can be hardcore
but the Obamatons prefer a glorious glossing over of the story rather than them pesky lil' things everyone else calls ... oh, what's the word? ... that's right! ... facts.

Hope and change, hope and change, hope and change ...

18. The Inconvenient Truth
Hillary had far more union operatives working the caucuses:

AFSCME
NEA
Plumbers & Pipefitters
AFT
ATU
OPEIU
UTU
Machinists
Sheet Metal Workers
Bricklayers
Letter Carriers

7. 11:30, or 11:00 to 1PM is a busy time in a Hotel/Casino
Rooms need to be clean and food needs to be cooked/served. I could easily see the management having to limit who they gave time off to be in a caucus. And I'm sure the union had a big influence on that. So,I believe Bill on this one.

Neither she nor Obama have been on the front lines of protecting voters rights. Why is it a concern to them know and how sincere are they about fixing it - for everyone in every election, not just when it affects them?
