We give the nod to Sen. Hillary Clinton among the Democratic presidential candidates.

Mrs. Clinton is best known for her eight years as first lady, but her strongest credentials in this race are her record of accomplishment and expertise on important policy matters as a U.S. senator representing New York.

Elected in 2000 and overwhelmingly re-elected in 2006, she has been an accessible, hard-working lawmaker who has earned respect on both sides of the aisle. As a member of panels responsible for military, health, education and environmental policy, she has steeped herself in those critical areas.

Why not support the Democratic candidate the Republicans want the most? Even if they don't cut her to ribbons, if she wins the election, there'll still be a Republican in the White House.
