5. Not all DUers are Democrats. In fact, a significant number aren't.
There are a lot of Green Party, Independent, and other third-party people on DU. You might want to add another option to account for them.

6. You didn't have an option for Socialist so I chose "liberal Democrat."
Liberal Democrat doesn't describe me well - I'm further to the left than that.

8. Not sure. 30 yrs ago, I'd have been called centrist or even conservative,
but the rest of the country's moved so far to the right, I feel way out on a leftist limb.

12. That's it! The entire country has been moved by the Repukes, towards fascism
So everyone who was in the middle, is now seen as a socialist.

15. Not really.
You can be socially progressive while being fiscally conservative. (By conservative, I mean watching where $ are spent, allowing competitive bidding on projects, taking care of the important things first...people and infrastructure...calling pork what it is and requiring justification for anything outside of caring for people and infrastructure.)

20. No such thing. Fiscal attitude is what determines if you're fascist, right wing, conserv, lib, etc
Money determines what happens in life. Will blacks be perfectly equal with whites? Will women face a glass ceiling and hidden or outward discrimination? Will the rich barely be taxed while the poor will bear the tax burden for them and end up on a treadmill of working for the rich? Will gay men and women be able to take tax breaks the way married hets do? Money determines EVERYTHING in life. What happens with money, determines whether or not the society is fascist, right wing, conservative, liberal, or financially socialist.

Little things such as whether or not we hook up before marriage or not, and whether or not we smoke a joint on a weekend or not, and whether or not we are nudists are the local nudist beach, determines what cultural background and religion you are a part of (Islamic, hassidic, Cuban-American, Catholic.

Don't confuse the two.

17. i don't think you understand what he meant
he wasn't saying the center was the far left, just that to Republicans, what we used to consider the center is now the far left. What we used to consider the right is now the center, and what we used to consider the far right is the right - and the far right is what we used to consider insane.

22. Socially liberal, fiscally conservative Democrat.
...and I mean both in their original forms, not this garbage we have now.

Socially, we should provide a real safety net for all Americans, including good education and health care...a safety net...not a guarantee of financial bounty. Generally speaking, if it doesn't directly harm somebody else's person or property, it should be legal. America needs to provide worldwide guidance from a position of strength and responsibility...not force change at the tip of a spear.

Fiscally, we should be investing in people, not corporations. We have the ability to balance the budget and invest in our people without gambling on the failed theory of trickle-down economics. By empowering corporations, we make a few wealthy. By empowering the populace, we create true strength.

That's the most succint way I know to state my position...
