Bill Clinton's selfish indiscretions and then lying about it damaged us in 2000
Edited on Sun Jan-20-08 03:17 PM by Perky
and might have cost an election and that led directly to these last eight years.

Would Al Gore have lost if he could have take Bill on the road with him.

Those last four years wer incredibly divisive. and it wa largely his fault.

We can't simply ignore this reality when we consider his presence on the campaign trail.

6. No Al Gore (D Pink Tutu)
Gore lost because 1, he chose a loser for his V.P. and 2, because he chose to distance himself from a president with a 65% approval rating. Nice try though.

9. Bill Clinton did not run for president in 2000.
If he had been able to run again he would have been elected. That said I have always believed that Gore lost for several reasons. He ran an inconsistent campaign. He chose Lieberman as VP. Oh, I forgot, he won the election but gave up too easily in Florida.

17. So what if it did?
The guy cheated on his wife. I'd guess half the men in this country have done it at one time or another. What's more, probably more than half of the presidents have. Women throw themselves at men of power every damn day. Few men could resist, and in the past, few have.

Oh yeah, and he lied about it. Like everyone doesn't lie about sex. No one else would have even been asked the questions he was. I guess he could have pulled a George Bush and refused to testify, but who knew you could get away with that?

If Clinton's mistakes are the reason we've had 8 years of George Bush, the blame lies with the Repubs and their media who exploited it, and with the American people for falling for it. That's not to say Bill shouldn't have acted differently and I suspect no one knows that better than he. But it's plain flat STUPID to base a decision on the best qualified person to be president, whether him or Hillary, based on who got a blow job 10+ years ago.

Including our illustrious candidate who ran away from the most popular Democratic president in a generation and selected a right-wing religious zealot as his running mate.

33. And another thing...
If Al Gore "lost" because he didn't take Bill on the road for him, it was AL's mistake, not Bill's (and one I'm sure Hillary won't make). Kerry had Bill campaign for him quite a bit, and it sure didn't seem to hurt him any.

So get up to speed with george walker bu$h's crimes of the last 7 years already. I think people dying in elective wars is a lot worse than consensual sex involving adults.
