Sister Souljah tempest and that was when the big RePUKE bogeyman was "black crime" and "carjacking." Race issues were hotter and more contentious than they are now. Not even close.

In the end, Jackson endorsed Clinton and everyone came together to kick some PUKE Bush Quayle ass.

1. I wonder about the message that is sent

If Clinton becomes the democratic nominee, and if blacks (I am one) "forgive and forget" and support her enthusiastically (which I doubt; support her, yes, but enthusiastically, no) it sends the message that any candidate can use dog whistle politics at no costs, assuring that we have no minority president in the foreseeable future. If Clinton were punished by voters, she, and democrats would learn not to take blacks for granted.

Nobody likes to be thrown under the bus and then dusted off and courted for convenience.
