New GDP name idea: General Demolition: Politics

Innuendo, insinuation, selective quoting, willful misreading, unsourced or thinly-sourced announcements of breathless pseudo-facts. Sometimes the caterwauling is even pitched in a genteel fashion, yet there's something about it that's really just ass-fryingly sleazy and dishonest.

It's not impassioned discussion and debate (there's plenty of that going on in lots of good threads that die untimely deaths because the forum has to accomodate yet another spew-fest). It's brain salad surgery.

It's not about a political party, it's about an eviction party. It's about driving people away and demoralizing them. It's about destroying community and engendering doubt and enmity.

It's bullshit.

And I hear it made someone's soufflé fall in the Cooking & Baking Group.

I loved this place before, but now...

3. I don't think they're ignoring it. A strategy to cope with it can't be easy to devise.

And I'm sure the frustration is being keenly sensed.

But, yes, it's just grown dismal in this forum. Trolls? Front-loaded primaries? Seven years of Bush? Probably a lot of factors involved, but it's a damn drag.
