There is no way of knowing.
There is no way of knowing if republican women will or will not vote for Clinton.

There is no way of knowing whether this country is too racist/sexist to elect a Black man or a woman.

There is no way of knowing that John Edwards is the most electable democrat running.

There is no way of knowing that Hillary Clinton will lose to John McCain.

There in no way of knowing that Obama will have coattails in a general election.

There is no way of knowing if scandals will arise around the dem nominee.

There is no way of knowing who the strongest dem candidate is.

Stating any of the above as if it were fact instead of mere speculation, based or not based in extant information is not convincing.

1. You're right. We should ALL vote based ONLY on who we think is BEST, period
not who the supposed "front runners" are..

Go Kucinich!!!

Go Edwards!!!

2. There IS a way of knowing that
the republicans will try their best to steal it.

There is no way of knowing if we will let them get away with it this time.

3. Sure, but it didn't work in 2006 and this year is more similar in
all particulars to 2006 than to 2000 or 2004. All early indicators are that this will not be an easy year for them to steal. Please compare turnout of repukes and dems in the primaries to date. Look at the turnout in SC compared to repuke turnout in that state in 2000.

4. This could be a trial run.
They may work out the bugs by November. Voter suppression is only one of the things they will try.

5. There's no way of knowing if Hillary would be a centrist sell-out
Or a moderate liberal. The Clintons' legacy is very important them, to be a good president at this moment in history, Hillary will have to govern to the left. I think it's perfectly possible she'll be a moderately liberal president, as least as likely as Obama would be moderate-liberal.

6. Maybe, but she's clearly run as tough on security and
she may well keep that hawkish element throughout her presidency.

7. In the last election,
Senator Clinton won in more of the counties than any other candidate ever had. That includes RFK and DP Moynihan. She won almost all of the rural, very republican upstate counties.

I warch this closely. And her margins were by far more than democrats plus independents. She had a significant number of republican votes. And most of the polls indicated they were republican women voting for her.

9. An appalling number of posts at DU seem deliberately designed to depress Democrats.

10. There's no earthly way of knowing
There's no earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going
There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing

Is it raining, is it snowing
Is a hurricane a-blowing

Not a speck of light is showing
So the danger must be growing
Are the fires of Hell a-glowing
Is the grisly reaper mowing

Yes, the danger must be growing
For the rowers keep on rowing
And they're certainly not showing
Any signs that they are slowing

Actually, these Willy Wonka lyrics some up the situation pretty well....
