It really is the economy,stupid!
The economy is obviously going to take front and center this election season. The republicans seem incapable of moving past their trickle down/Darwinian policies that have made us what we are today.I honestly don't think it's going to matter which candidate we run against them, they've got nothing to offer the except more of the same. The Democratic theme for the coming election needs to be a short and simple question to the American people:"How's that working out for you?"

Lots of good Op-Eds in the NYT today, here's one of them:

1. No ... IT'S STILL THE WAR. And all the money that is being thrown at it.
Stop shoveling money into Iraq and watch the economy improve.

manufacturing. Manufacturing is the engine that powers the economy. Our economy is coasting to a halt. Most of what we have left is powering the war machine in Iraq and else where.

8. if it wasn't for the war
the US economy would have tanked much earlier.

The US government is pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into the economy.
The war is not contracting the economy its expanding it.
Whats contracting the economy is bad news and plenty of it on the consumer side.

6. "Darwinian policies"
Too true. Funny how they can be so offended by Darwinian science and yet wholeheartedly embrace survival of the fittest economic policies.
