My local paper perpetuates the idea the Obama is a Muslim.

Lane's view is shared to an extent by Jim Dromeshauser, also of Shippensburg.

"His problem is not that he is black, it is lack of experience," he said. "He talks and nothing comes out. My only fear with him is his Muslim background. We are not ready for a Muslim in the White House."

Dromeshauser said he's not sure of how much Obama believes in his Muslim background, as his opinion is based on the stories he's read about his childhood: "If Martin Luther King was alive today, he would make a good candidate for president. He had a good background and steady beliefs."

Note the underlined part is THE REPORTER talking...not Dromeshauser. The reporter is clearly trying to legitimize the notion that Obama "was a Muslim"

Am I crazy?

2. Demand a retraction.
This isn't the sort of "mistake" we can allow, any of us. The newspaper's goal is supposed to be to correct misinformation, not spread it.

4. Obama brought this on himself
Edited on Mon Jan-21-08 10:09 AM by mac2
by using his religion in his campaign and agenda. He has not said, he would protect the Constitution and keep religion out of his administration so people are fearful. If it isn't my religion you won't do good by me type of thing.

9. In terms of practical politics, this lie needs to be squelched. However
I wish the media had the guts, or the knowledge, to point out how un-American it is to even say that the candidate's religion matters. Even if he really were a Muslim, they should editorialize, so what?
