Ha ha-Mccain in third place in Florida according to new poll
Great news for us. The GOP base hates him. Who do they prefer instead? Well according to this:
Insider Advantage FL Poll
Romney 24, Giuliani 19, McCain 18, Huckabee 12, Paul 7

which is backed up almost exactly by Rasmussen.

If Romney is the GOP nominee, I expect a 1964 like democratic landslide in November.

1. Giuliani within 5 points?
Sorry, I won't be happy until he is out of this thing.

2. Yeah but even a close 2nd isn't enough for Guilani
The media says he needs a clear win to stay alive.

Ha! If that holds true, it's going be a democratic landslide the likes of which we have never seen in our lifetime on Nov. 4.

3. Sad is that McCain does not spout the "hate the Mexicans" message like "the others"
...in the goop primary. That "hate the Mexicans" message does not play well with Puerto Ricans and Cubans who are a big part of the Florida population.

That's my white guy take on it.

5. Another good thing
If we really have a nasty and divisive primary, I know that the democrats will have no trouble uniting to defeat someone like Romney. No progressive wants him as president.

6. The sooner Mitt is knocked out the happier I'll be.
We do NOT want Mitt anywhere near the White House. The quicker he's out of it, the better.

8. Don't you want to run against him in November?
St. Rudy of 9/11 and John Mccain would be media darlings in the general. Romney not so much. We'd have a fair shake for once.

9. Nope. Nope. Nope. He was Gov. here once, and I want no part of him.
That man is more dangerous than the any of the others.

Wait and see how many votes he draws because of his good looks alone. American voters are so superficial they'll flock to him for the dumbest reasons.

And the fact he'll promise ANYTHING to get elected - just look how he fooled the folks in Michigan - $20billion pledged to the state, and he'll bring the auto industry back to Detroit - and they fell for it.

10. Please, please, PLEASE!
Oh lord, please!

I salivate at the thought of going up against Romney or Giuliani.

I chuckle at the evil thoughts of showing everyone in America Giuliani in drag with Trump's face planted in his fake boobs. It completely undermines the whole persona he's crafted, and he loses in the South because too many heterosexual males would be uncomfortable with a man in drag.

Romney has flip-flopped so much... I can't imagine a scenario in which he wins.

It's like Christmas. McCain is the only candidate they have that could POTENTIALLY win in a General Election, mostly due to the fact he's a war hero and how many American's have respect for him. (Although, "100 Years of Iraq, and by the way your job is never coming back..." That would be fun, too.)

11. I'd rather we ran against McCain than Romney.
Even if Romney does act like Eddie Haskell, he's more mainstream, and hence more dangerous.

13. Personally, I think you are cheering for the best opponent to win.
There are really only 3 viable candidates left. Guiliani is toast.

Huckabee would need a miracle to win, and if he won, the Republicans would lose the support of the fiscal conservatives, who give them most of their money for always supporting tax cuts for the wealthy.

Conservatives HATE McCain with a passion. Limbaugh has already said nominating him would split the Republican party. His positions on immigration, McCain Feingold, his opposition to the tax cuts, and his willingness to compromise. He's also the oldest candidate. If he wins the nomination, the right-wingers will stay home or vote third party. He might get some independent support, but his position in immigration and the war will hurt him there.

Conservatives are starting to coalesce around Romney. Rush is talking him up. He is now the leading candidate among Freepers in their poll. For some reason, they are starting to overlook his flip-flops on virtually every major issue. Even Evangelicals who view his religion as a 'cult' seem willing to overlook it. He's a decent looking, smooth-talking, snake oil salesman who will say anything to get elected. And being the world's biggest customers for snake-oil, the Republican base will buy it. If he's already got 1/2 the freepers supporting him, despite his being a north-eastern, Harvard-educated lawyer, who up until months ago supported abortion rights and gay marriage, he will have the whole base supporting him by November, as blinding as they swarmed about Shrub in 2000.

Maybe that's not a bad thing. God only knows what positions he'd support if he actually WAS elected. Most likely, he'd do his best Bush impression, giving lip service to abortion and gay marriage, while pushing tax breaks for the rich and corporate welfare. That would only make him slightly less tolerable than Hillary to me. At least he was valedictorian at BYU, unlike the brain-dead current occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania.
