How Old Was Hillary Clinton 35 Years Ago?

What was she doing that would qualify her for becoming President? Obama has been far too quiet on this absurdity. You can bet that the GOP are biting their tongues on this one. I can only imagine how this would play against McCain. Her whole "experience" rationale goes flying out the window as soon as he becomes the opponent. Being the wife of a President seems absurd enough as a claim, but the 35 years schtick is really off the map.

Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 07:42 PM by ProSense
She served as a staff attorney for the Children's Defense Fund and was also on the congressional Impeachment Inquiry staff in 1974, at the tail end of Richard Nixon's Watergate scandal. Hillary married Bill Clinton and left Washington for Arkansas in 1975.

Meet Elizabeth Holtzman:

She served on the House's Judiciary Committee during the impeachment hearings on the activities of President Richard Nixon in the summer of 1974.

Sure, you have some folks you speak to, here and in real life...
but you know in your heart that none of them are really your FRIENDS.

Truth be told, none of them even LIKE you very much- they just tolerate
your presence whenever you happen to agree with them.

But that's not really the same thing, now is it?

Not sure how law school counts as "executive experience".

Not sure why she gets to start her clock during law school and Obama doesn't.

46. Here ya go:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillary_Clinton

A little info for you:

Rodham then entered Yale Law School, where she served on the Board of Editors of the Yale Review of Law and Social Action.<30> During her second year, she worked at the Yale Child Study Center,<31> learning about new research on early childhood brain development and working as a research assistant on the seminal work, Beyond the Best Interests of the Child (1973).<32><33> She also took on cases of child abuse at Yale-New Haven Hospital,<32> and volunteered at New Haven Legal Services to provide free advice for the poor.<31> In the summer of 1970, she was awarded a grant to work at Marian Wright Edelman's Washington Research Project, where she was assigned to Senator Walter Mondale's Subcommittee on Migratory Labor, researching migrant workers' problems in housing, sanitation, health and education;<34><35> Edelman would become a significant mentor to her.<35>

In the late spring of 1971, she began dating Bill Clinton, who was also a law student at Yale. That summer, she interned on child custody cases<36> at the Oakland, California, law firm of Treuhaft, Walker and Burnstein,<37><38> which was well-known for its support of constitutional rights, civil liberties, and radical causes;<38> two of its four partners were current or former communist party members.<38><39><40> Clinton canceled his original summer plans in order to live with her in an apartment in Berkeley, California,<41> later writing, "I told her I'd have the rest of my life for my work and my ambition, but I loved her and I wanted to see if it could work out for us."<41> The romance did develop, and the couple continued living together in New Haven when they returned to law school.<39> The following summer, Rodham and Clinton campaigned in Texas for unsuccessful 1972 Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern.<42><43> She received a Juris Doctor degree from Yale in 1973,<8> having spent an extra year there in order to be with Clinton.<44> Clinton first proposed marriage to her following graduation, but she declined at the time.<44> She began a year of post-graduate study on children and medicine at the Yale Child Study Center.<45> Her first scholarly paper, "Children Under the Law", was published in the Harvard Educational Review in late 1973<46> and became frequently cited in the field.

60. So you agree that Obama then has 27 years of experience?
Starting with his work helping impoverished people in Chicago?

And when he spoke out against and was working to defeat Apartheid in 1981?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4129833

If you're counting law school, I'm counting community activism.

82. You make the ASSumption that Hills experience will not count up against McCain--does
that assumption apply to other candidates?

You can bet that the GOP are biting their tongues on this one. I can only imagine how this would play against McCain. Her whole "experience" rationale goes flying out the window as soon as he becomes the opponent.

44. She was 25 and working at a local Walmart, preparing to help them do more evil.
Other than helping Walmart to do evil, she was just a housewife who baked cookies and raised her daughter. She couldn't even do that right, since she only had one and it's rumored Chelsea was once seen smoking a cigarette. What kind of mother raises a daughter like that?!?

Anyway, it's because she "has no experience" that there are no biographies of her anywhere to be found! Clearly, you've posted here only after Googling every search you could think of to find a factual biography of her. You'd think if she had any experience in life, she might have even written an autobiography, but you can look and look and never find one...

Maybe she was just put together as a Manchurian Bionic Robot Woman when Bill Clinton needed a wife in Arkansas.

:sarcasm:

64. 35 years ago, she was working on the Children's Defense Fund.
She had graduated with her Juris Doctorate and did some postgrad work on children;s issues before becoming counsel for the Children;s Defense Fund.

A year later, she served as a member of the impeachment inquiry for the House Judiciary comittee dealing with Watergate.

36 years ago she worked on McGovern's campaign with Bill in Texas.

But I am sure the GOP is in total fear of Obama's 2 1/2 years in the Senate. :sarcasm:

Just saying. If you're going to count activism as "executive experience" for one candidate, you've got to count it for the other.

73. Of course Obama's activism counts as part of his experience.
That doesn't magically extend his time in the Senate.

74. Nor does Hillary's accomplishments in law school extend hers.
If she keeps running on that "experience" theme and makes it into the general election, McCain will annihilate her.
