HARTFORD, Conn. - Attorney General Richard Blumenthal announced Thursday that he is supporting New York Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential bid.
Blumenthal, one of the state's highest-ranking Democratic officials, said he has known Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, since they attended Yale Law School more than 30 years ago.
"I admire and respect her as the most experienced and able candidate who will be ready to lead from day one, particularly on economic issues that are so profoundly significant today," Blumenthal said.
He said Clinton would fight for issues important to Connecticut, including opposing the Broadwater liquefied natural gas terminal proposed for Long Island Sound and the federal No Child Left Behind law that Connecticut is targeting in a lawsuit.
