Noted without Comment
01.24.08 -- 3:05PM
By Josh Marshall

TPM Reader AK ...

I've been more than a little saddened by the way that you've "gentlemanly" sat on your hands and (for the most part) reserved extensive comment on the venom Bill Clinton has been unleashing on his wife's behalf. If Hillary wins this nomination in this fashion, the Democratic party will be destroyed. After seeing this side of the Clinton machine, I have zero interest in supporting their dynasty. Not only will the entire R-side of the country be in full-throated opposition to 8 more years of Bill (at this point Hillary is sadly almost an afterthought), but my instinct is that you can count on a very deflated and divided Democratic party not exactly rallying around Team Clinton.

It's crushing, but it's true. If she wins by letting Bill kill the future of the Democratic party, the Ds are done.

4. It was a comment offered on his blog; kind of says it all to me.
I guess Josh didn't want to weigh in, but his putting it front and center is interesting.

7. Vote anyone BUT Hillary
That's what I say. Or we are so going to lose yet another election. There is too much riding on us being returned to the White House and we don't need her and Bill screwing it up for us

8. Clinton nearly destroyed the Democratic party in the last decade.
Edited on Thu Jan-24-08 04:09 PM by Big Blue Marble
He and Hillary have come back to finish it off. And they are doing a great job.
For instance, everyone in my family is a life long democrat. No of them would vote
for Hillary this fall. Not a one.

Far more serious is the danger that they are endangering democracy as we know it.

Go around the net and read comments tagged to articles. I see it everywhere. Many people
are done with the Clintons. And if you do not think that will weaken the party, you are in denial.

Our only hope is to organize a new left leaning centrist party. Otherwise, I think democracy and
and truly representative government are a thing of the past.

10. Another hysteric. Only the Democratic Party can destroy itself. Bill Clinton
can't do it.

Some people are mistaking not getting their way with a destroyed party.

14. If you have a problem, it's with the voters of the Democratic party.
We select our candidates, we vote for them. If you don't like our choices, it's your own problem.

15. I do have a problem with those voters who vote against their own instincts
I have no problem with those who fully know and accept the whole premise of DLC centrism. I disagree with them strongly, but at least they know what they're voting for and are willing to accept the consequences.

But I have no patience for those who are just voting for the familiar name, who don't bother to actually look into and think about centrism, or who vote for her because she's a woman.

16. That's democracy. Everyone gets a vote, even if you think you know better
than they do what they want or what's good for them.

Nice.

13. This AK agrees with TPM reader AK.
I'm surprised but have to applaud the Clintons willingness to show precisely the kind of lame, tired politics Obama is talking about in an audiovisual kind of way. I appreciate the Clintons making Obama's case.
