The 2008 Dem Ticket Will Be Obama/Webb
Prompting Bloomberg to give up his spoiler bid. Ron Paul weathers on. We win as voters feel McCain is too old and represents yesterday instead of tomorrow. Health care, rising unemployment become biggest campaign issues. Like an old soldier, McCain fades away.

37. That would be even better, I think. That would give Obama the foreign policy
muscle he himself may be regarded as not having.

MOST important, though, it would not take another Democrat out of the Senate - where we need EVERY seat we can get there - to protect Supreme Court nominees and so forth. Besides, Jim Webb could have it thrown at him that he's no more experienced, as a Senator, than Barack was. Even though I think he's pretty terrific.

I don't think I ever thought of that combo. I haven't been all that thrilled with Webb, but I can see that being a very attractive ticket. I haven't come up with anything that's both viable and electable. That definitely is. Now we just need to get Obama elected!!

17. Webb did well by Obama...
On one of the Sunday shows last week. I'm sorry, but I can't remember which one (I sort of flip back and forth).

In any case, they tried to get him to bite on the "race issue" and he deflected the question back to Barack's positions and qualities so deftly, that I have to admit I had a "hmmm" moment.

I hope to hear more from him during the campaign.

And it's been batted around quite a bit, too. I think reporters have even begun asking Webb, and he always answers rather slyly. :-)

But he doesn't have the military credentials Webb has. If we didn't have Iraq and all the rest, that would be a killer ticket.

31. How long has Tester been in the Senate? Uh, not that long. We need
to be a little bottom-heavy on experience, not a "cool new guy"--we have "cool new guy" covered at the top of the ticket.

22. It can't be ruled out. But I'm thinking more along the lines of
Edwards / Sebelius, or Edwards / Harkin, or Edwards / Feingold.

If Sen. Obama wins the nom, I think he should consider Gov. Napolitano, but I think he'll choose Tom Daschle.

If Sen. Clinton wins the nom, I think she needs to surprise the party with her choice -- but in a good way and not a Dan Quayle way. I think an interesting choice for her would be Richardson politically, although Richardson, Clark, and Bayh are likely already on a shortlist. Chris Van Hollen would be a refreshing possibility and an investment for a possible future White House race. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. would be my first choice if HClinton is our nom.

43. Tom Daschle!?!
Daschle will never get over his association with a milky lack of spine. I understand that he helps Obama out, but he'd never be VP material. If anything, he represents the opposite of foreign policy credentials.

Kennedy is looking to replace Clinton, not run as her VP. And his name is just as polarizing as her's.

As a former VA resident, I care about who represents it. Webb would be a good attack dog, I've gotta say, though, and his national security cred is unassailable.
